New tote rules

Seems that the tote rules are changing:

5.10.3. BRACKETING OF HORSES: The bracketing of horses shall not apply to the Pick 6 Pool, unless otherwise specified. ONLY EFFECTIVE FROM MONDAY 9 SEPTEMBER 2013 (COUPLINGS APPLY UNTIL THEN).

Doc here:
news.tabonline.co.za/Portals/0/tote_rule...aTABRulesAug2013.pdf

Rules also state that the first timer rule does not apply in pick 6, but as far as I can see, the first timer rule is not defined in that doc. Does that mean that if a first timer wins today, we don't get the first raced horse?

Also some new bet types, not sure if it will be implemented,, like pick 7,8 and 9.

Well no more P6's for me either :(

Next thing they will be taking away the 3rd place from the PA - although imo that may not be a bad bet type to consider in addition to the PA.

Would be nice if someone (where's Vee) can clarify the first timer rule ?

Why more bet types, won't this just water down other pools??

I actually preferred the old system as the Jackpot and Pick 6 were different and you needed to structure each differently. Now the Jackpot reverts back to a shorter version of the Pick 6, where you get knocked out the first leg of your Pick 6 you play a Jackpot. I am sure they did their market research. :S

The only question is....the circumstances that caused couplings to apply still exist and in fact are more relevant now than ever, as regulation of form and consistency is totally ignored and the downward movement of MR's allows for unpoliced manipulation.
Some will say it's great.........much bigger payouts.........yes but equally fewer winners......not much point of bigger payouts if you never get a slice!!

Has to provide a far greater opportunity to manipulate in areas where the "wrong" one winning already tests "coincidence".
(Kimberley and PE spring to mind)

Seems to me that all the things introduced to protect punters and the integrity of the sport over the years are systematically being eliminated.

These days I'm rising to the challenge by getting out of bed every morning ::o

The operators would have big problems if all punters were like me - I hate to lose, so I try to go for the less risky bets - I don't do the lotto, so I might still take a straight line P6 for R10 - just to have a flutter with no real expectation of catching it. I have always tried to approach my racing in the same spirit as the fictional Mike Hammer (remember him), who had a saying something like this:

'It's a glorious day in New York - today I'm going to watch the Yankees play - and who knows, they might even win'

New rules effective, no communication to the public, and Vee mentions that the first timer rule still applies but the rules says it does not.

I don't know.

Gonna take a break from the tote.
