The couplings rule alteration is clearly an attempt at attacking the open bet as far as p6 are concerned .
Assuming that Pick 6 players continue to support this bet most will now bet on the tote due to the restrictive limits offered by bookmakers .
Pe will produce multiple carryovers and kimberly dividends will increase . Catching Pick 6 's in this format will be very very difficult .

?.......Idon't see how this attacks the open bet in anyway at all......imo it will send many more tote players to the bookies.....as far as that ex-handicapper Moodley goes what do he and his so called marketing cronies know about betting......one has only got to go to betting facilities inthemore affluent areas of Johannesburg like the Monte setup and also now Meyersdal that no longer TAB facilities but are now pressing the open bet issue by offering the whole tote product......this all has happened on Moodley's tenure......I for one have been a die hard tote supporter but hey.....if you cantbeat them then go with the flow.......give the money to the bookies and let the tote operators dream up some more ways to show usthe way to the increasing amount of toteless betting venues.......

It is sad that Vee is so quick to promote these new prooducts yet even he chooses not to answer any of the questions we have posed about the tote payouts. Absolutely no transparency.........Yet when he appears on the Telly tracks shows alll that he does his boasts arrogantly about his knowledge about horse racing........

You are right,he also talk like it was his idea to take away the couplings from the IP but it was me who suggested it to few people in P,incl Vee, a few years back, all said that it was a good idea, one of the occasions we talked about it was at the donkey derby @ Sun City were i was a guest. Vee was still the handicapper or something else but definitely not in the role he is now, so he just took my idea and made it his own later on,

......So you are claiming to be the single punter on which the Tote operator is basing their market research......brilliant......since he steals your ideas and makes them his own.....please get him at the soonest donkey derby Vaal or Turffies will do.....and tell him your next idea that you think that it's a kak move to interfere with the P6 bet...$.and bingo he will claim that their market research is all wrong and the bet remains as is....

@JB:
'Vee was still the handicapper or something else but definitely not in the role he is now, so he just took my idea and made it his own later on,'
Bunch of plagiarists and intellectual thieves!
Years back, when I suggested...
1. Launch owner syndicates with PDI (not that I endorse BEE/AA/entitlement), the RA launched one with high profile blacks;
2. Then, when I asked about grooms being advanced (ABET, as jockeys, trainers), the Groom School was launched;
3. When I said tomorrow was too late for an African trainer (what with so many black grooms being 'senior assistants' for years), they found Benneth Bulana and launched him amid great fanfare with constrained perks to ensure that he fails!
In the process, they overlooked promoting other blacks on merit, and focussed only on Africans....no Indians, Coloureds/Khoisan or Africans 'not connected'.
The same with the positions on Phumelela, RA, NHA, etc.
Despite my numerous approaches to them, they never entertained or even listed to me....a Khoisan/Indian!
Peter Malumgani, who was on the Steering Committee as Chairman, is roped in as Chairman of P, and then on the board of Investec, the 'facilitators for corporatisation/ strategic partner'! Ramafalo, who was in Molekethi's office as dep CEO, becomes a director / official on P.
Sello Rasethaba, former Gauteng Gambling Board member, appointed to NHRA.
For the record, none of these individuals knew a bean about the horseracing industry...zilch!
And, there are people here who take issue with the race card as it is seen to apply to whites only!
This country is f..k ed as the right conditions have been nursed over 20 years for the likes of Malema and the shenanigans of black entitlement. Those at the trough just kept at it, forgetting where we came from and the interests of not only the mass, but also fellow citizens (white and brown)! The mentality persists that...only a black (African) can benefit, think or make decisions....we (like the Village Schoolmaster), must just watch and listen ...in awe!
That's what happened when I was on the Gambling Board...the Africans ruled and made the decisions!
It is for this reason that we Khoisans are uniting country-wide (abd calling upon our fellow citizens, black, white and brown to join us); we have the only right to this country....not the marauding Africans from the north, bluff their way as much as they like because they in the majority!
Ironical, that after enrichment, they have now migrated from the south (Soweto) to the north (Sandton, Houghton, etc)?
In our approach, everyone that's been born in this country (in terms of the Freedom Charter) has an equal, inalienable right to every resource and opportunity.
Khoisan Unity Movement (KUM)
Hanif Manjoo
BTW:
I owe no allegiance to any politician or party. I come straight from the struggle and sacrificed far more than what many of the opportunistic Africans did...my track record is there! Just that, I am the 'wrong shade' of black....damn my German/Dutch ancestors!

Re: Re: New tote rules

DATE: Tuesday 20 August 2013
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming and Leisure Limited
TAB will do away with couplings in Pick 6 bets on South African races from
Monday 9 September in a move that is set to boost payouts and re-energise
the bet.
“It’s a bold, and in some quarters, controversial step, but after much
debate and consultation with a cross section of punters over several
months, we believe it’s the right move,” said Phumelela’s Sports Betting
Executive Vee Moodley.
“Unavoidably, the Pick 6 has gone a bit stale over the years and the
combination of couplings, fractional betting and, in more recent times, the
first-timer rule has also diminished the bet’s appeal in terms of
delivering mega payouts,” added Moodley.
“Removing couplings should refresh the Pick 6. It will be harder to win and
the resultant bigger payouts should reignite interest in the bet, as
happened with the Jackpot when the couplings and first-timer rules were
dropped.
Several top horseplayers have welcomed the impending removal of the
couplings rule from the Pick 6.
Champion punter Alvin Pillay thinks it’s a brilliant idea. “It’s time for
punters who study hard to be rewarded when they find the ‘wrong one’ in a
coupling.”
Leading owner and top TAB customer Greg Blank said he wished the couplings
rule had been dropped sooner. “This will separate the men from the boys,”
he commented.
Form expert Darryl Maree is also in favour. “It’s clear for all to see that
the Jackpot has been rejuvenated by not applying couplings. I’m expecting a
similarly positive effect on the Pick 6 once the new rule is in effect.”
While the bracketing of horses trained by the same trainer in the Pick 6 is
falling away, TAB will retain the first-timer rule for the time being. Into
the future, however, it is intended to drop this rule as well, which will
bring the Pick 6 into line with international rules and enable overseas
totes to commingle into TAB Pick 6 pools on South African racing.
