The structuring of any exotic I think is the key to catching the bet and making a profit. If favourites win you need a bigger percentage than when outsiders win. I therefore take maybe 3 or 4 different perms of Jackpots and PA's and hope for the best.

But for R20 (for the sake of argument) I am going to need 10 times the amount of luck if couplings are taken away - so imo it will cost me 10 times more, to have a chance of winning maybe double the dividend :S

It could still prove to be the 'right' decision in terms of increasing the pools (somehow I doubt that), but for me personally it would be a no

I am with you on this Frodo............of course they will only market it on Tellytrack so continue preaching to the converted!!!

From a personal point of view ,I share Racing Guru's idea...........I already utilise a big perm/percentage strategy with PA's,and it has been particularly profitable,particularly in regions which have stables with multi-entrants !!!!!...........it is like using a large net to trawl the small losing tickets.

I will select certain meetings and take a small % of as much as a R100,000 perm with much less risk of the small dividend which has been the inhibiting factor.......collecting 2 or 3 % of the entire pool will do fine thanks,assuming pools don't diminish!

I think that it favours the big investor and I just wonder how long the"victims"will continue to invest?

Quick fix solutions normally don't work.I mean the only physical thing they are doing to shore up the pools is to switch off a function in their programme.

i'm all for innovative ideas, the change rejuvenated the jpot and I have no doubt it will do the same to the pick6...I may just start playing it

Morning

Some good pro & con arguments for and against the new rules. Personally, also being a small Punter out of preference, I very seldom play the JP or P6 but prefer the PA, I find it difficult enough to find A winner never mind 4 or 6, so basically I have no bias in this regard. I think that IF this skuldugery of the 'wrong one' coming up does occur more often now then it is going to affect 6 legs of the PA as well. So it might pay to play bigger PA perms with a smaller % from now on, maybe more value.

Time will tell as to the effectiveness of this move but I for one will structure my bets differently from now on,i.e. all exotics, ATC, etc.

How does this benefit Phumelela ?Do they think the pools are going to get bigger ?I don't think so. They only making it harder for the punter to win. If they had to pay 4 places in the Place Acc regardless how many runners the pools would increase to there benefit. The pick 6 is not for the man in the street anymore its gonna benefit the larger punter only if they catch it. I wanna see when Dekock Tarry or Erusmus have 3 or more runners in a race how u would plot ur bet. Good luck to the punter

I like the no-coupling idea , will let the guys that normally find the bad coupling get the big value now

I can catch 10 out of 10 - just take 6 fields - not saying I'll make a profit though ::o
