Thank you tp all those who have posted here in my support. I cannot name all those who have smsd/called me and said keep going. Some have said far worse in words that Bob would delete! Many are not registered and some are. Others are dying to have a go and support GC Natal but are not allowed to. teamwild I and many think you have got the marriage wrong. Who was the providing husband and who was the wife, I think to my knowledge you have wrong. If we are in so much trouble etc, why are the trainers/ some Cape posters so worried about our restriction on no of boxes and type of horse allowed here? Dont complain, move here like Mike, Charles,Greg, Karen, Jeff, Deon etc and you can race what you want. If we are so weak and bad then the ex Cape trainers so good they will have a ball here. All we have to do is find space as there is very little, hence the restriction on numbers. As I said earlier, lets see how we are doing in 2years time. I predict that with who we have on our board and their ideas we will be going well.

You know I have no interest in this thread and not much of an opinion.
I can only state facts....My family have been involved in the Betting administration for a very long time, when there was still a jockeys club as well as each race course owned their own bit......
All I remember very clearly is that KZN NEVER wanted to amalgamate, never wanted to play ball, always wanted to be on their own. Felt that SA racing needed them and not the other way around.....
Seems to me that some faces have changed but the same old story still rings true.
Natal for Natal.....That's it!

That is one statement that you will never resolve and I am not getting into it. Who was holding who back? There are 2 very distinct camps!

Punters pay for races & by that rationale then KZN has nothing to worry about.... maybe playing ball means having WCAPE trainers control things in KZN......
The heavy foot just removed from the head will shortly be delivered up the rectum by the new husband............ If Cape racing/punting was so strong why the need for a husband at all???????

Don't know what the fuss is about. If you like KZN so much do what MDK did and move your yard to KZN. If you are that serious about wanting to compete and lift the quality of KZN racing then pack your shit up and move to KZN. That simple! Drop the approach of looking down at the lowly KZN racing, and whinge when people aren't falling over there feet for you just to give their money away. How many pick and Pays would allow Spar owner form the Cape to setup street vending in their parking lots over the holiday season? KZN trainers have every right to protect their interests and the interests of the owner of the horse flesh this side. The argument of who will do better with a bad horse does not factor in this debate as that is an owners decision on who to send the horse to. They must find the best trainer for their good or bad horse. Getting what you pay for goes without saying. So maybe there is an opportunity for the Cape boys to relocate. They would not do that though because we all know that South Africa's centres of wealth and wealthy owners are; JHB and the Cape!
The debate on which centre is stronger is more nonsense. If the Cape is so strong and a 78 in the Cape is stronger than 78 in KZN then there must be an issue with the merit rating system in the country or is the trainer concerned factored into the merit rating system.
Protectionism happens in all industries. There will always be a certain level of protectionist behavior. Lets look at this for what it is; we are talking about lower rated horses not super stars. Even at a small business level businesses object to similar businesses opening on the same street citing parking and all other funnies.Or is racing suddenly not a business its just the overtly wealthy and their trainers competing against each other for punters money?
If anything I think the only real gripe is treatment of the visitors. Cape seems to roll out the red carpet whilst KZN just says welcome enjoy your stay and now get on with it.(No frills, no fluffers provided, we are looking after our bucks).LOL!!! Why aren't the JHB boys crying? I suppose they can raid from there? Does Duncan Howells receive the same treatment as MDK when he raids with his one horse in the WC??? Honest question not a dig.
This gripe seems more about the history between GC KZN and former GC Western Cape rather than this piddly issues. This issue is probably a spec on the surface of the real issues boiling underneath.
GC KZN sold an asset which I believe they will never be able to replace for the next 20 generations or ever. Poor move IMO but they are now sitting on a pot of money. Fill in the blanks.....Here is one suggestion, maybe the expectation is to provide more infrastructure (facilities).

That's the spirit Craig. No one would even stop to think that the alternate might be possible.
