Good one. It's time they stood up and got counted in this game. Lets see if a few punches on the blank canvas can inspire change!

Bigger and better by Cape standards..........however break down those pools in regions or provinces and then you will see a bigger picture about provincial contributions.

Quality racing....Wow. ............
Guess there is no need to trek to the shit hole then.

Sorry.......like everyone else..........just an opinion

No one called it a shit hole......just some shit decisions being made. All because of a few lowly rated horses.....

What are we going to have a pissing contest. Hell yeah racing is of the top order tomorrow and if turnovers are shit then WC racing is in bigger shit than ever before. I would love to be at one of the most historically prestigious events on SA's racing calendar (may I go further to say that since Jono Snaith has upped the anti, it is the event to be at on SA's racing calendar) however it has nothing to do with this debate. Come on man come with a decent argument that we can pick to pieces.

Surprising that nobody has mentioned the stats of the visiting KZN trainers in the Cape Summer. Ten wins including four features plus a Gr 1 2nd from about 15 horses!

Surely this can all be sorted by the role players...do we really want a situation where the Cape and Jozi trainers boycott the KZN champion season???

FC they would never do it. Try tell your owner you not going to race your top horse in the July/Gold Cup/ Festival of speed etc, because you are not allowed to take 3yr old maidens and moderate winners to Dbn. Those horses will move faster than you can blink(I had a few other anellergies but I must not play the man):D

Good morning folks, very intersting thread and I have to side with Mr Ramsden. The logic of some of the kzn trainers baffles me and it defies logic. Almost always, we need a smokescreen to hide our own shortcomings and in my humble opinion, this is whats happening with some kzn trainers. The logic is that they welcome satelite yards "but please bring your better horses to improve our standard.",
but herein lies the problem:
I have pulled out stats from the Jockey club website for one of the trainers:
2008- 8% win rate
2009- 7% win rate
2010- 6% win rate
2011- 5% win rate
current season - 5.6% win rate

Now in my mind, if Mr Ramsden and co had to bring their beter horses, this strike rate would surely go down even faster and what message are you sending to people who want to invest in you or in Kzn.
Again in my unqualified opinion, this is the real reason, "those trainers" will continue to affect our performance so lets find another "logic" to block it. The frightening stats of the above is that 95% of the owners who enter with this trainer might not have a winner.
Lets address the areas of our short comings rather than fight competition, because we all know, competition is very good to improve our game and service levels.
In anyones language, going down four years in a row has to be a area of concern and fix that rather than "rubbish" off those that are vocal about some kzn trainers and their performances or their lack of it.

Joey Ramsden's strike rate is not very good for this season at 9%.

This is really getting ridiculous - everyone and his dog has a right to an opinion and seems like there will never be agreement on this topic.

For my two cents I can't figure out what the betting pools have to do with stables being allocated; so what if KZN have the bigger pools - still does not explain why GC wants to prescribe to visiting trainers which horses they can bring to KZN

And in my personal view, KZN has a really long way to go to match the quality of horses in the Western Cape (but that also should not be a factor in determining who can bring which horses).

From what I can gather stable space is a real problem throughout the country, but there has to be a better way to solve this other than resorting to 'you can only bring certain horses' tactic ?
