Oh yes we did. The response was so poor, we gave up. I was told by a prominent trainer (and big backer of this block on satellite yards) that I was "imagining things". So when there were those heavy snowfalls, and our first float going back to Johannesburg was turned around by the traffic authorities, I became even less popular. And they can deny it all they want, they do not want competition, and that's the bottom line.
They must allow all, or none. This selective eviction is nonsense, and so is the reasoning that certain trainers came and supported KZN racing in the "hard times". How does that make them special? There have been satellite yards in KZN for decades. This is not a new concept.
So basically they want the visiting trainers to bring the big name horses to boost their Winter Season (and let me tell you those restrictions apply at all times, not just for out of season satellite yards), but heaven help you if you would like to try and win any stakes off season. They only want them there when it suits them! Restraining trade. How is this even constitutional? I cannot see how this would be allowed in any other business sector?

What would be interesting is if Mr Ramsden can see his way clear to jump to the support of his "other" colleague Mr Jayes as he has so done in supporting Messrs Bass and Kannemeyer ?
Would love to see the big P respond to such an assault.
Come on Joey.... "Hit em HARD"

And I feel that this is a huge threat to the integrity of the SA Stud Book. By encouraging, and infact creating a false racing environment for poor thoroughbreds, you will end up breeding lower class horses. If they can't compete with visiting horses, then what kind of class are they really? They should then say: horses that raced within the restricted territory of KZN may not be used for breeding. Or is that unfair??
