As far as I know this is correct - but why the cloak and dagger?

The racing operators in KZN and Gauteng no longer weigh horses on racedays. Our horses are weighed once a week, and on racedays - we have our own weighbridge. It is an extremely useful tool in training, but unless you keep a running record of every single weight, you would not be able to use this info as a punter. Horses generally win at a similar weight, each time they win.

Thanks for the info Rubyclipper. I would like to know when there is a large jump in mass in either direction...say 10kg

thank you rubyclipper - most helpful. Why have KZN and JHB stopped weighing their runners? ..and publishing the info? what was the reason for this operation ceasing? anyone on the forum know if Cape Town still weighs runners?

Thanks Ruby - if you attest to horses running well off the same weight(I have seen this for myself) then why would this info not be used by the stipes and made public ?
