Rubyclipper, you obviously resent providing more transparency to the public to try and improve the relationship between the players/stakeholders in an industry which dearly requires a better image..............Lets hope you find a new career soon to help dispose of the kind of attitude that gave it the reputation its got.
Let me ask you a simple question:where is racing thriving better.............Singapore or South Africa?

Just a thought - horse 500kg Trainer says will need run(runs last)
- next start 480kg Trainer says will improve(again last)
- next start 470kg Trainer says expect a better effort (.. last again) Owner says : "retire now"
I wonder why owners don't ask for this info - would save them a mint!! We need to move racing into the modern world asap and stop using "the eye" to judge the animal's performance -

Singapore is thriving because it is run by the appropriate people who have racing interests at heart. They not "thriving" simply because they weigh their horses...
Maybe Rob Fake, you should rather go and bet in another gambling industry, or racing jurisdiction where everything IS more "transparent", perhaps? #worksbothways
Would you like to know when horses are shod? What brand of food they eat? How much, and how often? All of that makes quite a difference, let me tell you!
Would you like a copy of their blood pictures? Now *those* would give you even more info, and tell you for sure when a horse is fit or not, regardless of what it weighs!
Would you like the jockey's to declare when they aren't feeling 100%? When they have had to sweat heavily to make a weight? Both could compromise their riding in some way.
Instead of being constructive in your debate (like giving proper reasons for disseminating the weight information, and how you suggest to get it out to the masses, where everyone can have access to the information), you have resorted to personal insults about me trying to disadvantage the only people in the game to keep it alive, and that I must find another career? Really?

Then he should ask his trainer/s for his horses weights then. He pays, so should get that sort of information. But it does not give him the right to make insults... All I have asked for is some constructive suggestions as to how this could all be done... All anyone says is: because we want it... Sounds like the typical "give me" attitude that South Africans are notorious for... I'm not seeing the other side of the argument yet.

Ruby ,you and me are just 2 of many participants in a failing industry ............your recent posts have sounded like you regard your role as a hardship.......surely better to work in a happy place.
What is the strike rate of the horses you work with ...............maybe knowing when they are on Racing Feed would not be a bad idea......................lol.
Remember,I participate only as a punter now and if racing falls in a hole locally,I just punt another market................can you change your participation with the same ease?
If the NHA were regulating properly, punters would not have to beg for "give me"...........it would be a requirement of stables to provide a lot more info.
(BTW,I can't get "personal" with you.................I don't know who the "person" is who posts under the alias Rubyclipper)

I am pretty sure that Rubyc is not trying to withold any information but just as I am not, but I want to know how ALLthe horses running can have their weights taken before raceday and the info made available to everyone. Are the horses in Singapore not all trained at one training establishment with a scale right there? Maybe Debbie can let us know. I have not raced there at all. I am not scared of transparency at all and sure most trainers are the same.

Craig,I truly believe that most trainers situation would be better in the long run if the report backs were better regulated and widely available.
You,for one ,have always been quick to explain a disappointing run,and I am sure many trainers would like to do the same as it beats the hell out of being subjected to the bitter guessing and speculating in the pubs,as,lets face it,it's normally negative and seldom pleasant.
Generally the trainers who post here go out of their way to give all the help they can................without an apparent contempt for the player as displayed by the "give me" comment!

Hibs, if he has a record of his own horses weights, for every race, he would then know when it is ready to possibly win, or be included in any bets.
Craig has asked the same question as me.... We are not disputing that the weights could be useful in determining fitness , how do you suggest we go about providing this information? When do the horses get weighed? How could it be disseminated to the public timeously and so all can have access? It certainly can't be done online, as the majority of punters do not have access to the internet. Suggestions?

Ruby the answer to all your questions can be found in Singapore(and Cape Town perhaps ) and the people that should be getting those answers are the NHRA and Phumelela as they have the responsibility of keeping Racing going - The mass of a horse is basic info and more important than asking a trainer or stable employee if a horse is working well.

Mr H even in Cape town the weights were only known when the horses got to the course and they only have to be there an hour before their race which to me is too late. My pick 6 and the rest are on already.
