Hope so Chicken, he has been good for racing imo

Remember he also refused to join the big boys and put pressure on the TBA

I think we must hope that he changes his mind. Everyone wants a July runner and with all the hype behind his horse, it is always difficult for the connections to see him run unplaced but we must also bear in mind that they are not machines and he had had a extremely hard season in Jhb and to then have to produce his best against the best in the July with that weight was always going to be extremely hard. That said we all live in hope and you never know when you will get another horse this good so you take your chances even when you know it is probably the wrong race at the wrong time. There is only 1 Vodacom July a year. Mr Van Vuuren is an asset to our game and I really hope he stays in. He has spent a huge amount of money and deserves his success. Maybe the Triple Crown should have been Abashiri's mission this year and then a break and The Met and the July next year as a 4yr old but it is easy to talk afterwards from behind a computer. Racing needs investors like him and as I said I hope he uses this as a learning curve and puts it behind him and sets his eyes on his next big race winner which will without a doubt come soon. :)

mr Ferraris summed up racing years ago ..its a game where the highs are very high and the lows very low there is no in between...unfortunately today the modern owner dictates the trainers and that doesn't work...do you ever think in your wildest dreams laurie jaffee would tell Terence millard where to run empress club illustrador etc...do you think mr millard would tell laurie jaffee how to run his business ..why is chris van niekerek such a successful owner because he lets mr tarry make all the decisions and until the modern day owner applies this mindset they will come and go ...

There will always be hissy fits, and tyre kickers. One must not be too affected and just carry on. Hopefully Mr van Vuuren will pour himself a good whiskey, settle down, review, and decide what he's got is good and not worth throwing out because of a schoolyard brawl. Racing has a lot of schoolyard brawls. Always will have. Get over it and carry on.

Mr Eudey

Its YOU and your defence of your KZN track condition that has led to this. YOU always come on here and take a stand, when last did you tell MR Hawkins the truth and take a stand against him?

Im not looking of an argument i just find it astounding that now YOU say its a bad thing this amazing owner leaves racing.

It will sad if he leaves. With that amount of money, he should hire a racing manager and spread his horses. I think both he and the Azzman have similar temperament and personalities...it could be very dangerous. The media would lap it up. I am sure he will be back.

AND

Is it NOT amazing that the sporting post (pathetic) chose to publish a "letter" from Humpty dumpty insulting one of SA's leading owners BUT because he is clearly not one of the boys….the letter gets to see the light of day.

makes me vomit.

The big picture here is how many grooms , breeders , spelling farms ,transport companies to name a few that will be affected by this owner leaving the game . insulting owners who spend their own hard earned money however they want to and decide to run their horses in whatever races they want to is of no concern to anybody . Any one who saw the celebrations, supporters when winning the triple crown will see how passionate the family is about their horses.

Easy, there are many things behind the scenes that you are not privy to and I am not bringing them up here safe to say that I was one of the ones who last year said to management and directors that the only way to sort it out was to strip it right down and relay new grass that we would grow at Summerveld on the right hand side of the clubhouse. There are 3 huge issues if you want to put it that way that would knock this whole thing of Abashiri right out the water and that the track was not the problem but I am not repeating anything as I promised I would not. My last word.

Craig

is it fair to say that we refuse to race our horses on the turf track?

Always sad to see a big or any owner throw in the towel
My old mate always said in racing one has to be able to go 15 rounds
which is what all world championship fights were
Mr van Vuuren has had the joy of a very good horse and many owners
have spent big money and never won 1 leg of a Triple Crown
Hope he reflects and changes his decision
