BUSH RACING
11 years 11 months ago
I was gonna open this thread last night but i thought my source was off the mark, but after hearing Steph's comment after the last race in kimberley today,it seems i my info might be on the mark.I hear they have this landing strip about 1700m,that they use in kimberley or just outside kimberley. But more important than the racing ,i hear is the amount of money that flows on these events on a sunday,.Ihear something like 400 000 to 500 000 rands changes hands at these meets, and that excludes side bets.Apparantley no weights, your jockey carries just his weight...and more interesting i hear that racehorses currently in traing are racing at these meets. So maybe i can say that the race tracks in Kimberley and by that i mean the races that are staged under the juristictions of the NHRA...are actually used as exercise gallops for the big money that is offered in the bush...i hear 1 horse ran at a bush meeting on a sunday.,ran on the MONDAY,FOLLOWING DAY...STARTED FAVOURITE and unsurprisingly ran unplaced...Geeez...we punters are on a hiding to nothing in this centre....i dont think anything i hear about Kimberley anymore will surprise me

What is happening at the Big "shite" Hole of racing?.Great cause for concern. All the "negatives" happening in Kimberley.Surely the body controlling racing(NHRA) should investigate any if not all the allegations. In the interest of racing!

Over the past few weeks we've been reading about the following pertaining to Kimberley racing on the different threads:
"Cliffy Miller in hot water"; "Leon Lotz's comments during a post-race interview"" Nominating and accepting with horses not in your yards" and now "Bush Racing".Seems like Kimberley is an everything and anything goes racing venue.

So you see, in horseracing the owner is number 1. Bush racing does not require the public, the owners become the punters between themselves.

Bush racing has been going on for years, remember riding for late Michael Roberts at Pietersberg in the 70's. and they won a chunk of cash!

BTW --Weren't you emigrating to Belgium.
You missing out ........South Africa is no good for you judging by your comments recently.
