.....there is no way one can try and glam up bush racing.....it may not be totally illegal if registered race are not found there.....but the fact still remains that older retired horses are being forced to run and that is plain and simple a form of abuse.....yes we see horses as old as 14 and some may be even older racing and participating in legally sanctioned races.....but this is rare and exceptional to very few hard knockers......these horses are also tested and are running med free.....however Un sanctioned events do not test for meds and in order to get old horses not to feel the rigors of sometimes longer racing careers they become sour to exercise and eventually have to be oiled to the gills to get them to run.....in addition there is no control of what whips/crops/sticks to be used and how many times you can use that whip to keep the geriatric equine to keep moving at pace....also the weight carried often exceeds that of normal race riding....this practice is like going to an old age home and getting pensioners to come to run a 5km fun run......that can be no fun at all.....:oops:
