Good to hear he has sorted the track out as in the past scottsville had a stigma attached to it for being in a poor condition with horses often returning with injuries......

WE he has done a great job there under trying circumstances as well. Over the period that Greyville was out he was especially good in keeping the track in a good condition to race after picking up all those extra meetings.

maybe all the sensitive pussys should listen to what db said about scotsville before they get into defensive mode as expected ...he should know as many of the top trainers train his 2yos which run at the end of may and the feedback and vet bills are sent to him regarding his 2yo runners on the sprint day....he didnt suck his opinion out his bum about the track fcuking up 2yos at the end of may....focus on what he said instead of what you think he said ffs...he never said he wouldnt race horses there but wasnt happy to run red ray in the feature there

Then dont run it. Simple. No oneis going to force them to run it. Why should the sensitve pussies listen if he is wrong. 2 people that actually go there and race on it said it is good so who is right? Those sitting behind their computers here? Not sure when Derek was last there or those that have actually walked it and raced on it? I have raced at every course in the country but unless I was there within the last month I would not give an opinion as I could be entirely wrong. In my past experience I would say Kenilworth is one of the best surfaces I have raced on but would need to see it again myself to comment on it now. Makes me annoyed that some people on here who would probably need a GPS to find Scottsville are telling th rest of us how bad it is.

I think that Scottsville has the most testing 1200m in KZN and a great test for the best 2yr old "Sprinter" but i still think that it should be sold along with Clairwood & a new course with 2 tracks & lights developed.

OK P, then they should give notice on the lease and develop a new track, i personallythink that a track which offers grass & all weather with lights is the option. Greyville has nowhere to expand to.....

that is very comforting craig you have lots of cash, let us see how comforting it is in 20 year when their is no cash and no asset to sell. good thing you retire by then but what do your children and their children look forward to?
so this brugman story is totally out of control. let us talk fact and not hysteria. he manage markus jooste horse, i presume he speak to markus who tell him what his responsibilty is. i also presume he get guidance from the trainers who train jooste horses, no? if the feed back is the trainer or jooste dont want to take risk about scottsville for what ever reason, he can do what he believe is the best decision for the horse. if he think scottsville is the goat track he can say so. the reason why every one get all excited is be cause jooste is huge phumelela and west cape man. silly politics

FH, no kids at all. Only horses, dogs and cats!
Most of the cash is ringfenced and cannot be touched. It was a prerequisite before we allowed Clairwood to be sold. I am very confident that we will be fine here in GC/Sharks country and do very well. (tu)
