Agree Oscar, we should never have to pay for it and we wont. The war is between Operators and bookies about one simple thing - the open bet. All bookies have to do is to leave the open bet alone and we all carry on happily, each to his own business.

And Multichoice just sent me an email that the monthly fees are increasing as at 01 April...8% or so. That for me equates to around R9K ANNUALLY for DSTV.....
Right, the local Dros is walking distance from home. Drink beer, perve other okes chicks and watch rugby. How many beers can I buy for R9k ???
That is sorted then.....

They put together the packages in such a way that you have to take the 'Premium' one if you want to have something decent - daylight robbery if you ask me.

Also got the increase notification...gets that's the end of DSTv for me...guess my 6 year old will have to make do without the kiddies channels...
As an aside...two ways in which companies make profits...increased revenue (increased sales or artificially manipulated higher higher rpices from creating monopolies, barriers to entry, limiting competition, limiting supply, etc) or reduced costs (major cost for any company is labour so costs reduced by eliminating labour or reducing price paid for labour)...either method takes money out of the hands of a majority and puts it into the hands of a minority...
I read an article +-2 years ago about SA companies (think it was the top 100) having +-800 billion of CASH on their balance sheets whilst individuals indebtedness was +-1,2 trillion rand...we have seen a massive transfer of wealth from the majority to a minority...
1-2 generations ago, it was possible for a home to be run sufficiently on the income of one parent with the result that the other parent was around to educate their children to the ills around them...now, it is imperative that BOTH parents work just to remain poor (if one parent works, you are likely to be impoverished
) with the result that family units are disintegrating and social ills more pervasive...I know this is no longer the age of innocence but I worry for those below 10 now...what world are we leaving for them ??? I really worry but I guess so do the majority of people out there is the same / worse boat...

Get a DSTV Walker and only pay R 45.00 for SS1,2,3,4, plus 11 other channels.
Get the R99 Bouquet and you have TT + CN and DISNEY JR for kids
For R 144.00 its a good deal ... more so, the kids and I dont need fight for the TV

Thanks for options...I'm assuming that "CN" is Cartoon Network ??
Maybe we'll give it a try for March...
