Who actually gives a shit.... really !! I will swop one addiction for another. I have been following racing for almost 40 years now... and yes, I will not be happy to go back to the dark ages where you wait for the 19h30 news on the radio to hear payouts... so if I am in the dark, unable to sit back and watch my chosen addiction when I want to.... I move on !! For me it is that simple...again, really !

but the product now relies heavily on turnover which will suffer if punters are not taking rolling bets on races they see at home - If a punter is taking his bets early then that falls away - the situation in the totes is carried over at home where many people back race to race - if you take that away turnover will drop unless I misunderstand the nature of the gambler. The more often we bet the more Phum makes - if we all only took a single P6 and stopped playing sw and wins etc the whole thing would shut down - A solution has to be found or Racing cannot survive

I wonder what multichoice was earning out of showing tellytrack. And from what i can remember at the begining tt was meant to be a service to broadcast horseracing, and not to make money. What i think is if that what their agreement to multichoice was and all of a sudden they are turning tt into a profitable, gravy train concern then i could side with multichoice especially with the recent bookmaker blackmail episode, afterall why must they supply a low cost channel that the operator wants to start charging bookmakers com, even the talk of buying extra decoder units and the channel belongs to multichoice.remember my theory is based on IF that was their agreement. Greed is stopping this game fast.

I don't profess to know a lot about the in's and out's of this, but to me the principle here is that there is a discrepancy between what the 'customer' want and what makes business sense to Multichoice - so business sense will unfortunately always prevail
I'm not sure about what everybody else wants, but for me I would like to put together my own personal 'bouquet' of channels - and I am prepared to pay for that - I guess this does not make business sense to Multichoice, or else they would have given us the option long ago - but I would have thought it possible to put subscription fees on the individual channels, e.g.
SS1 - SS3 R100 per month
Movie channels - R50 per month
All other channels - R25 per month
The subscription cost of channels could be determined by the popularity of the channel - with a certain minimum that would make 'business sense'.
And then one can make up your own mind :S
But it seems that we are stuck with the 'take it or leave it attitude' - which I think is going to bite them in the arse in the future once live streaming becomes 'better' :

I have asked the Multichoice this before - I do not have young children so I don't need the cartoon network and neither do I need the christian channels and many others - Why can't I pay to see what I want rather than pay for something I don't watch? I admit I do watch many of the other offerings but many of them never get even a second viewing time in a year.

The point is that we are all speculating or guessing as Rob says. What I do know is that this is a complex problem and that obviously, TT will ask for an extension of the notice, in order to investigate and then other options.
However, TT HAVE issued a press release. They are now obviously engrossed in negotiations and assessments etc. So it is bullshit to make statements about us all being kept in the dark. They are hard at work and when something concrete is finalised they will communicate.
ffs, do we want hourly reports from them ?

I tend to agree with a previous post that MC got p*ssed off with the court hearing Tues last. Phum's Moby Dick obsession must be held accountable.
