This is whats happening/happened

1.TT losing revenue due to loss of Bookmakers
2.They plan to recover this loss from its DSTV domestic client base
3.They realise it will be difficult to get DSTV subscribers to pay more or a separate amount for channel 249 (like ZeeTV and others)
4.They get Multichoise to give them notice
5.TT and Multichoice then together and come up with this "pay for" channel 249 as an alternative going forward
6.We the punter/dstv subscriber will thank TT for their efforts in retaining channel 249 as we are happy to pay say another R100 pm
more in order to continue enjoying racing on DSTV
7.TT get their lost millions and the gravy train continues on its way ....

This is the plan the way I see it ....No multichoise.. No Choise

If I am wrong then Multichoise please give us reason for removing 249 - research, stats viewership etc - am sure more watchTT that the
Proteas.or Russian TV

And yes, it is more difficult to achieve, but if there is a chance that Tellytrack can then become accessable to all South Africans WITHOUT a subcription fee, is that good or bad for racing... or is that bad business sense, with my head up my arse ?

Straydog - excellent conspiracy theory post, but please rather try channel 239. There is more racing on there for you.

keep guessing boys. makes my day! especially when anything but the real issue is thrown in, together with personal insults. You lot will stick Trevor Noah out of business soon.

The silence for the TRUE reasons for taking TT off DsTV is an absolute DISGRACE, we the PUNTERS/VIEWERS are CUSTOMERS of Horse Racing and MULTICHOICE and both do not COMMUNICATE with us. Thus we are being treated like mushrooms by the Operators & MultiChoice and neither give a dime for us. Sign of the times I guess where the Customers are there for the Businesses and not the other way round.

So suggestions of BOYCOTTING by not placing Bets should then also inckude Multi Choice by cancelling ur Subscription for a month. Customers do have some power but we do not use it effectively and that is why these BUSINESSES can walk all over us.

Louis but how on earth can the National broadcaster be seen as promoting Gambling? Or even Etv - We live in a country that has already taken a strong stance on smoking and alcohol is next so why on earth would they ever consider promoting another "sin" unless you have some type of decoder and can block the signal when you are not home? I can already see the uproar, I am not sure if this is what you are referring to or is there some other way maybe via the net that you have in mind? If i recall when i first subscribed to DSTV you had to call them to activate Teletrack as it was not automatically loaded on the bouquet so even they had restrictions on viewership

Louis , this thread is about watching horse racing going forward -when you have definite information about real options for us , going forward , please let us know -until then you are a guesser like the rest , except for your obvious reasons for positive propaganda !
If you think that all punters being in the dark,as to whether they will even have the option of watching racing soon ,is positive, then great!

It is as simple as that!

I am trying to keep up with this :S

We had a thread from Harry " what is happening", we had a press release, we had a court case, we even had a dedicated TV show???

Plus numerous other threads running.

I only ask the simple question again " what is happening with channel 239"

I gather its closing, so what will the punters be able to watch and when and where and how?

This is becoming a mini series :S
