I was just wondering - Does Super Rugby get a portion of turnover from Bars and pubs that show their product and then have increased turnover for that period? Does Multichoice charge a % of turnover for this service or a flat rate ?

Jack....that last post of yours is really....really bizarre. Your analogies are nonsensical to say the least. And this from one who usually appreciates your posts

Personally I would not be surprised if MC have booted TT out. Why should they be used to generate income and turnover for another listed company. If the operators want to generate turnover via a third party (in this case TT channel 239) then they must pay..and pay a premium, simple.

LG I usually agree with many of ur views but I can now understand why some Clanners get the moering with U. YOU wear Blinkers and then get PERSONAL.
I am both a MultiChoice and a TAB customer and they have ALL my details and I get regular correspondce from both about trivial matters. BUT with major issues I heard nothing from either UNTILL it was posted here on ABC, and then only a general release. I have sufficient funds with TAB to cover any Bet I take and I pay MultiChoice a YEAR in advance. Further their (both) so called PRESS RELEASES told us sweet nothing.
I take a very strong exception with the insinuation that I am a RETARD as I highlighted in ur above post. So now, all of a sudden, this is a very COMPLEX problem, please explain why. As I stated in my post this is THEIR BUSINESS and any busimess constantly monitors the THREATS that MAY occur, why do purposely not answer for how long TT have known of this threat.
Your last sentence, also highlighted, explains why Horse Racing is in it;s present situation. Fark the Customer, take it or leave it, so be it. LG niks personlik net my gedagtes op wat yj geskryf het.
I do not profess to know anything about nothing so what I am about to share is only my take without knowing the facts as they have not been supplied by the powers that be on both sides.
Firstly if we are talking about personal (owner) ETHICS I cannot understand what MultiChoice has against TT. I mean ffs they are opening a seperate Channel and sensationalising the OP court case, how sick IMVHO. On many of their Channels they show Murder, Rape, Assault, etc, etc, and then these high and migty media moguls have an issue with TT. Do they not know that TT is only an information medium just as Football, Rugby, Golf and all other sports are. So people BET on Horses but they also do on ALL sports shown on DsTV so IF THIS is about ethics then ban all sports on any TV. I rest my case with the IPL, which MultiChoice are so keen to show.
Where I agree with LG is with the open bet. I know for a fact that this has been going on for a very long (1980) time and that in my experience NOT ALL these bets taken by the Bookies are TAXED. Those against the TOTE please explain to me wtf the Bookies are doing for Racing besides YOUR own and their personal gain and fark this game I lam passionate about.
Clanners apologies for this LONG winded thread but I am seriously getting GATVOL of all the sh-- that is going on, even to such an extent that we can abuse the ethos of this wonderful Site.
BTW I will be cancelling my DsTV for the reasons stated above IMVHO bloody 2 faced

Press released and printed in Citizen. How do you propose, then, the press release to be worded and released. They are working on the issue. The complete solution is not yet finalised. In the meantime, NOTHING has changed, not for any customer or customers of racing. So, what must the press release say? What would todays press release say ? When must it be released and how many do you want today ?
So, on a similar issue in any company, how would their press releases read? So, lets wait for the decision and the press release which will follow. Carry on as normal until then. Why is this so difficult?
Mr H - rugby is not a betting company, their income and turnover has nothing to do with betting. However, the more people who watch, the higher the advertising income to Supersport, the more Supersport will pay to rugby for the TV rights. And betting on a game provides more viewers and not less....

Let's change that to CNBC or Business Day and call Bookmakers Stockbrokers and punters investors

LG, Im in CPT, I dont read the Citizen, but then this whole situation has no affect on me as a owner or punter !? Why can I receive other info from the authorities but nothing about this important issue ? A business would have made a press release and followed up with all relevant info and up-dates to all, not just limited to an specific area.
I and most do realise the TV is on and we are seeing our horses run at the different courses around the country at the moment, but what we would like to know is whats going to happen in 2 or 3 months time. What alternatives are being worked on,is there going to be a brake in transmission, etc etc...? or For that matter tell us they have no idea and are sitting with their hands in their hair having a cup of tea !
Communication is key here, so I dont have to ask stupid questions or I can start making my own plans to resolve my predicament.
So what I am gathering from your statement is we are going to maintain the status quo until our screens go black or nothing is going to happen and this was all just a storm in a tea cup ?
LG I do respect you are the only one trying to answer these questions. I thank you for that. Its however not good enough for me as I dont pay you but I do pay the authorities.

It's a complex problem so these things don't always take 5 mins to sort out. There will be a solution and everyone will be given time to adapt. It's obvious that there is nothing concrete to update all stakeholders with. As a listed company Phumelela will be very careful about what they put in the public domain.
Think everyone needs to have a bit of patience here.

Agree but if the operators want to generate turnover and profit from TT then they must pay for it..rather pay for that and reduce dividends..simple
