A word for the great, and I do mean great, Ricky Ponting who has just started his final test following the announcement of his retirement from international cricket. A player who thoroughly deserves his ranking in the very top eschelon of test batsman. To their shame, and to the bewilderment and disgust of many of us true cricket fans, there was many a time Ponting was booed by England spectators. A sad reflection on people's appreciation of talent if nothing else. I have watched 11 Ashes tests and there was never a wicket more prized than that of RP. I wish Ponting well in whatever his future holds and will miss his presence in the test arena.

I have to say that though Perth can be very difficult, primarily in terms of swing bowling, from the tv pictures it hasn't seemed too bad today and it has appeared to me to be nothing more than an inept batting performance... oh how I wish they had performed like this in England. From the sublime to....

75/6 Faf to the rescue again. I suppose the one good thing is we have the runs on the board.

We must stay positive, lets not forget the Newlands test last year where we were bowled out for 96 in the first innings and still won the test. (tu)
