The plan with Golden Angel was to drop her out from the wide draw and give her a chance to run on- however the plan went out the window and she was ridden hard to get to the front, and not surprisingly she faded out.
Fair debut by Floral Kingdom- was green and a bit outpaced but had a good learning experience and will come on a lot from this run.
One runner at Durbanville on Wednesday. Double Dash in race 5. Gets a plum draw and a claimer on her back, so would not be surprised if she wins again, although quite a competitive field and she can be a tricky customer.
Elusive Fort has 3 nice runners, including our filly, Elusive Gift in race 6. She gets a good draw after 2 recent tough draws, and although this is a very open race she should be in the shakeup.
Fort Liam runs in race 5 and can step up after a nice win last time.
Fort Yukon in race 7 is another that can build on a promising maiden win.

Double Dash another good win and well ridden by the youngster.
Fort Liam good run in second giving a lot of weight to the older winner.
Elusive Gift taken out repeatedly by Money Extractor
Fort Yukon always thereabouts, just missed the placings in 5th.
One runner at Vaal on Thursday.
Warning Sound in race 6. Has been priced up favourite and has a good chance in a competitive field.

Warning Sound disappointing- did not run on this trip.
3 runners at Fairview on Friday
Dead Poets Society in race 1. Showed nothing first run in PE but trip was much too short. Tries the local poly- should be ok as he ran ok on Greyville poly. This is still too sharp a trip, but gets a plum draw and 4kg claim, so should run an improved race. If Turbulent takes to the surface he is the one to beat, but this is a tricky race.
Lyrics and Songs in race 2. Low weight and a reasonable draw, so hopefully can improve. Very open race and anything could pop up.
Disruptive in race 4. Not disgraced on local debut, and has been off while getting his AHS. Has benefitted from the break, and should be more at home on the poly. However, this is a level weights maiden so he needs to show significant improvement to feature. Has had enough work so should not be too much in need of the run. The fillies look stronger than the colts at the weights in this contest.

Lyrics and Songs and Dead Poets Society both showed a bit of improvement.
Disruptive major improvement to win- has been given a 17 point hike in MR from 52 to 69.
We have always felt that he just needed time to mature and strengthen up. He also seemed to handle the poly better at his second go on the surface, but quite a few Erupts act on the poly. Hopefully there is still some improvement to come, and I believe he will enjoy it when he goes a longer trip.
One runner at Vaal on Tuesday.
Warning Light in race 7. Should appreciate this trip and the longer run-in, The T inside track clearly did not suit.
Hopefully he can step up to win

Very sad to see a horse break down on the track, but thankfully no other horse affected and the jockey luckily not badly hurt.
Warning Light was the last foal of Siren’s Call, and although some siblings still active, brings down the curtain on her stud career.
Charleston Dawn ran on Saturday at Vaal- showed improvement to run 4th.
One runner at Vaal on Thursday. Kaalvoet in race 8. its a Graduation Plate but without any standout horses, and he is in with an ew shout. Interestingly, he has been declared with Alumites for the first time, and hopefully that works for him like it did for Ziyasha recently.
The logic is that the extra grip from shoes is necessary in soft ground.
Rondebosch and Alpine Jet are best in at the weights, but only a kilo or two better off with Kaalvoet than on handicap terms. The lightly weighted Caroline Island should also be competitive with the benefit of the 2.5kg claim.

Based on recent South African racing news from March 2026, "Gin Strike" refers to an astute horse trained by veteran trainer "Kaalvoet Clint". The horse is associated with specific training techniques, including the use of alumites (racing plates).

Very nice win by Kaalvoet, which may need a new name after winning with shoes on. Good ride by Habib- this horse needs to settle and then he finishes well- too often has overraced early.
Should still have scope for improvement.
One runner at Fairview on Friday. Dead Poets Society in race 4.
In my opinion this horse was pushed too early in KZN before he had matured and strengthened. If you don't have a bit of patience, then don't buy stayers. Jacques Strydom is a canny customer. When he acquires a horse, always starts with a sprint and a soft introduction.
Then an improved run 1300m poly last time. Now goes a bit further on the turf and will probably improve further. This is a moderate field, but unfortunately is drawn very wide, so will need a lot of luck in the running, but throw into quartets..
Indestructable is my first choice, and his main dangers are Monkey's Wedding and Grey Warrior. Bright Eruption and Athelwulf have claims.

Dead Poets Society dropped out from wide draw, and ran on from far back. Watch over further
One runner at Turffontein on Saturday. Almond Sea in race 7, Computaform Sprint.
Her prep the past few months seems to have been geared towards the Big Cap over 1400m, and it did look like she gets the trip, although not necessarily at the rating level that she achieved over the sprints.
However, a breeding farm has bought into her, and that has seemingly led to a change in focus to Graded Races. The question is whether the decision has come in time to adjust her training program and sharpen her up for a race of this calibre over the minimum trip. She also cannot afford to be slow away in this contest, and she has shown some stubbornness at the start.
However, assuming that she jumps on terms and the prep is not an issue, then she has the ability to run into the money. Buffalo Storm Cody and William Robertson are the two to beat, and there shouldn't be too much between them. There is a lot of depth in this field and thus many with place chances.
I have a full sister to her on the farm born in 2025, so this run could have a meaningful impact on the foal's value.

Almond Sea slow away and didn't really get into the race from the inside draw. Very disappointing as the other two fillies ran 3rd and 4th, and she is at least as good as those two.
Two other runners this past week- Caribbean Gold and Lyrics and Songs both well beaten.
One runner at Turffontein on Sunday. Kaalvoet in race 6. Only 6 runners and any could win.
Kaalvoet bounced back to best with the alumites last time, and the extra 100m should not be a problem. Hopefully the 10 days between races is not too little.
He has been pushed back up to his career best MR of 99, but should still have a lively ew chance. Zalatoris and Charming Cheetah are closely matched and should both be in the firing line, and Miami Mountain has good sprint form.

Very good run by Kaalvoet- just pipped on the post for an excellent 2nd. He looks like he still has scope to improve, and should pick up a minor feature one of these days.
Two runners at Kenilworth on Wednesday.
Elusive Profit in race 2. Disappointing debut when slow away. Should have come on a lot from that run, and could run into the money at long odds. Not sure why Chad Little has jumped ship from her to Oh Isabella. Peach Cobbler has the best form of the raced runners, but plenty of first timers to worry about.
Double Distilled in race 9. Very disappointing last time after a decent penultimate run.Gets the 4kg claim which brings him into the race well weighted. If he can repeat his best form he has a good ew chance in this line up. Very open race.
