Luca da wheels continues to disappoint.
Good run by Golden Angel in 3rd. The winner and runner up look like they will both end up in the Fillies Guineas field, and race was run in a good time.
Instead of bumping these progressive sorts in CT for the next few month of the season, we are going to go for easier pickings in KZN
One runner at Vaal on Tuesday. Warning Sound in race 6. Not a bad comeback run when given a soft ride from the back of the field from a wide draw. Should be involved in the finish in what looks an open race.
Twostep Queen good win last time and could be the one to beat.
We have 3 fillies on the Two year old sale on 25th October. I am not a fan of starting a sale at 5pm and finishing around 10pm, especially when we draw the last slot with one of ours.
However, its a nice catalogue. After their AHS vaccinations, we sent our 3 for breaking in at Soetendal, and by sale time they will have had 2 months there and started cantering, so can go straight to a trainer and should be ready to run early in 2026. Horses will be at Durbanville for viewing from Wednesday 22nd. Breakfast gallops on 22nd will include a few sales horses that are RTR.

Warning Sound fair 3rd beaten 1.5L
Three runners at Durbanville on Saturday. Not expecting much from any of them.
Race 5 Ruby's Fortress two poor runs, and needs to improve a lot.
Race 9 Double Distilled and Disruptive. Double Distilled has been off the track for nearly 2 years, and has been a riding horse in that time. Very slow to mature, but has shown enough at home to give him another chance. Will need this run.
Disruptive also very disappointing so far. Low weight but a very wide draw, and can't be fancied.

No shows as expected although Disruptive showed a small improvement and Double Distilled was not disgraced after such a long layoff.
Two runners at Durbanville on Saturday.
Double Dash in race 4. Competitive race and unfortunately a wide draw. She looked in need of her last and could surprise here. Pentolina, Beneath the Clouds and lavender Bay are the shortlist but others with chances.
Call To Unite in race 7. Has had breathing issues and gets the tongue tie which may help. Has come down in the ratings, and gets the 1.5kg claim and plum draw. Has won all his races over further, but is down in class and likes this course so could surprise. Industrial Strength and Tenpenny look the two most likely but another open race.
two year old sale today at 17h00. Our 3 are looking good and the sales ground has been busy, so hoping for a decent sale.

No show by Call to Unite and Double Dash.
One runner at Turffontein on Sunday
Almond Sea in race 7. Great to see her back in action after 6 month absence. Badly out at the weights in this contest, so presumably this is to prepare her for more suitable races later on. However, she is very quick and has previously run well fresh- if given a soft lead with her early toe could be in the money. (The mare has recently foaled a very nice full sister)
Buffalo Bill Cody also returns from a break, but if fit is the one to beat following his gr1 win. Fire Attack and Greaterix are well weighted but better further and this looks like a prep race for them. Winds of Change is well in at the weights and if fit after the break is capable of an upset win.
The sale was reasonably strong, although it ran out of steam a bit the last hour as it was a long day for all.
Two of ours- lot 100 (R150k)and lot 148 (R250k), were bought by Piet Botha's Dare to Dream Racing syndicate. He is an astute trainer who has done very well with a smallish string, and he deserves more support. This is a great way to get a share in horses that will be ready to run very soon. To join a syndicate you do not need to be a colour holder, Both fillies have already been broken in and spent 2 months in pre-training prior to the sale. Piet can be contacted at 0731224874 if anyone would like more information.

Pleasing return to racing by Almond Sea fourth beaten 5L. She lost a couple of lengths at the start so this was a good effort against Bill only receiving 2kg. On that performance could have gone close if she had rather run in the Golden Loom next week.
One runner at Greyville on Monday. Dawn Surprise in race 8. She comes off a gutsy win last time, but has benefitted from the appie claim her last 3 good runs down the Scottsville straight which seems her best c&d. Has run ok on the poly, but a wide draw to overcome. Glad to see Cole Dicken back in the saddle after his fall in CT a few months ago. Very open race

Good win by Dawn Surprise. Gary Rich has done a great job with this mare, and she seems to be still improving.
One runner at Vaal on Tuesday.
Charleston Dawn in race 2. She is a half sister to Dawn Surprise. She showed some pace on debut but seemed to need the run quite badly. Drawn on the outside so hopefully with some natural improvement can get a lot closer.
Vamanos and Girl in Verdite look the two principals of the raced runners. Red Secret good debut but disappointed second run over further in the soft, so must also be respected this trip and going.

Charleston Dawn showed pace then faded. The going seemed better on the inside on the day.
One runner at Durbanville on Wednesday. Caribbean Gold in race 5. Progressive young filly, overcame wide draw to win well at her second start, gets a good draw and stable jockey rides. She should win this and I think 5/2 is good value. Main danger is Siriano.
Worth noting that CG has been nominated for the Gr2 in 10days time. Needs to win this comfortably for that to make sense.

Very disappointing day at Durbanville. Inexplicably poor run by Caribbean Gold.
Elusive Gift came back jarred up.
Two runners at Fairview on Friday.
Lyrics and Songs in race 3. Improved run, although well beaten, but showed enough to be hopeful when he strengthens up and can go a proper trip.
Golden Angel in race 8. I expect her to win this, despite the 1kg overweight as she gets the fillies' allowance. She is on her way to Durban, but we thought this looked a suitable race on the way there.

Convincing win by Golden Angel. She should pick up a couple more.
Two runners at Turffontein on Saturday.
Warning Sound in race 6. This is a big step up in class but still has scope for improvement and gets a light weight and a reasonable draw. World of Alice is the class act here and won a good race last time. Quite an open race.
Captain Selvie in race 10. Returns from a long break but plenty scope for improvement. If fit and well is the one to beat. I can't get excited about the favourite Tuscan Romance- she is well exposed and there are plenty of improvers eg Limerick lace, United Offer, Season's Greetings and Lost For Words that should beat her home.

Warning Sound disappointing
Captain Selvie looked in need of the run.
One runner at Kenilworth on Sunday.
Kaalvoet in race 6. Is badly out at the weights in this so just watching to see how he runs this track and trip.
Tough race- don't know why Dean Street is such a big price- he should go close.
Race 8 Kwagga Blitz bred by my farm manager- should have an ew shout.
Race 2 Kliptown- I bred and raced the dam. Not a bad debut.

I thought an OK run by Kaalvoet under the conditions.
One runner at Fairview on Wednesday.
Race 2 On an Impulse has relocated from Gauteng. The 3 yos are at a disadvantage at the weights, but if he takes to the poly can run in the money.
