Good win by On An Impulse, but a hefty penalty raised from MR 70 to 82. Seems harsh considering what he beat,

One runner at Greyville on Friday.
De Vlugge in race 10. Competitive race, but a fair post maiden run, and can contest the finish.
Queen of Pearls looks progressive, but hard to understand why she got a rating of 82 for narrowly beating Dondoyaki at level weights when that one is 76. With the 1.5 kg claim could be the one to beat. However, 2 & 3 both get 4kg claimers and 1 gets 2.5kg so all must be considered.

Poor ride on De Vlugge- stuck out wide for most of the way. Ran on well in 4th in a blanket finish.

One runner at Durbanville on Saturday.
Call to Unite in the Settlers. He won this race last year, but had a better prep.
Fair comeback run over shorter, and this is his trip. Very open race- if his breathing doesn't bother him he can win.

I noted this comment from Peter D and made a mark in Formgrids as a horse to follow. So thanks to that made a few pennies tonite.

Lovely win by De Vlugge.
That's our 3rd winner from our last 5 runners, and 4th from last 10

One runner at Kenilworth on Saturday
Ruby's Fortress in race 4. He has yet to show much, so just hoping for some improvement.
Object D'Art looks overdue the win. Dangers are Sicily and Prince of Egypt to which he has to concede weight.

Ruby’s Fortress still no show.

One runner at Turffontein on Sunday.
Almond Sea in race 5. Good comeback run last time when out at the weights in mixed company. Back in a F&M handicap should have a very good chance. Drops back to 1000m, so very puzzled to hear Lerena say in his interview that they want to drop out and come from off the pace. In my opinion over this trip, jump and go and they will struggle to catch her. It would also allow her to come off the inside to the likely better going. Slight concern if the going is soft as she has run best on good ground. Whistle The Tune is a hard knocker but returns from a rest. Komatie River is a threat at the weights. Alpine Jet is hard to assess- clearly has scope for improvement but steps up in class.
Hopefully the weather plays ball.

As feared, the tactics employed with Almond Sea were bonkers. Gave the field 10L start, and finished very well to be beaten 2L third. Had they jumped and rolled, I have no doubt that she could have won this.
The fellow top weight went just about start to finish, and while they are rated the same, imho Almond Sea is the better of the two.

One runner at Kenilworth on Monday. Double Distilled in race 4. he improved his second start back, and hopefully will continue to improve with racing. Unfortunately gets a wide draw, and the tailwind will favour the front runners with good draws. Clark Griswold looks the one to beat with Sliver of Sunshine the main danger.

DD beat a couple home, but still much improvement needed to score.

Two runners at Kenilworth on Saturday
Double Distilled in Race 1. Clearly just in to save the race and have an exercise canter this trip and so soon after last run.

Double Dash in race 6. Has been disappointing this season, but now has dropped considerably in the ratings and cracks a draw. Could surprise in a very open race.

Double Distilled ran a much improved race over a trip short of his best.
Double Dash again disappointing.

One runner at Greyville on Tuesday. Dead Poets Society in race 3. Drops back in trip and on the poly this is too sharp for him
Greatest Hit should win.Bourbon's Beast the danger.
With lots of scratchings and just 6 runners, DPS should earn a cheque.

Something had to run 3rd, albeit far behind the first two, and with the others all stopping, DPS duly obliged.

One runner at Kenilworth on Wednesday.
Luca da Wheels in race 4. This is a strong maiden, and although he should appreciate the step up in trip he will need to show a lot of improvement.
In Motion looks the one to beat, but there are quite a few unexposed that could challenge.

Luca showed a bit of improvement in a fast run race (2 seconds faster than the fillies’ equivalent run just prior).
He should be competitive in an open maiden.

Two runners at Vaal on Thursday if the weather permits.
Charleston Dawn in race 4. Steps up to 1400m after 2 moderate sprints. Should appreciate the trip and hopefully will show improvement.
Captain Sylvie in race 10. Fair comeback run after a long winter break. Should strip fitter, and she won her maiden at this track. Must have a decent ew chance with the 4kg claim.

Charleston Dawn no show
Race 10 abandoned.

One runner at Kenilworth on saturday
Kaalvoet in race 6. Tough race, and many with chances. He has had two warmup runs in CT and should be at his peak. Out at the weights, but has scope for improvement and could make the quartets pay. All the Rage is too short a price in my opinion. Military Command, Roland Garros and Malmesbury Missile are also all serious contenders.
