Dawn Surprise another very good run- pipped on the post

two runners at Kenilworth on Wednesday
Double Distilled in race 1. Steady improvement and could run a place although bred for much further
Disruptive in race 3. Slowly improving but this looks too strong
small outside place chance if he improves

Two runners at Vaal on Thursday
Warning Sound disappointed last time but could bounce back in an open race

Captain Selvie should be fitter and is the one to beat in a competitive race

Warning Sound never really in it, but ran on late when the race was over.
Captain Selvie had every chance but lacked a finish after pulling early.

Three runners at Greyville on Friday evening.
Dead Poets Society in race 3. Not the strongest of fields, and Salani Kahle could build on a useful debut to win. Intro, Carnival Park, Magic Hat Trick, Many Waters and Window To My Soul are hard to separate, and any could pop up. DPS could show more improvement, and has a place chance if he does.

Golden Angel and De Vlugge both in race 9, and are lively contenders in a competitive race. Golden Angel gets the 4 kg claim, but must overcome a wide draw and this is her first time this course and under lights. She has a strong winning chance if none of that bothers her.
De Vlugge has won 2 of her past 3 races and gets a nice draw and 1.5kg claim. 4 of the other fillies met her last time and are marginally better off at the weights, but I think that she can beat them again.
I'm hoping that we get the exacta.

de Vlugge good run in second. Golden Angel worked hard to overcome the draw and lacked her usual finish to run 4th.

One runner at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Caribbean Gold in race 10. Ignore last as she came back with elevated enzymes ie. harbouring a virus. Is mispriced at 33/1 and worth an ew go.

Fair run by Caribbean Gold- too far back early, but finished best of all.

Its been a quiet week for Black Swan bred horses, but Elusive Fort has been having a December to remember. So far this month, 20 runners, 6 winners (30% strike rate), including a minor feature win by Royal Invitation. yesterday.
The grand old man is going strong at 23 years of age, and is as fertile as ever.

Two runners at Kenilworth on Wednesday. Both at long odds.
Double Dash in race 6. She has been off form her last few, but has thus dropped in the ratings. Grant Van Niekerk rides, and he was on board for her maiden win, so hopefully she can start to show something of her early form where she was rated as high as 84 and now only 65.
Double Distilled in race 8. He has had 4 runs since his long layoff, and needed all of those. His last two were much too short, so can be regarded as gallops. He is in a weak field, nice draw and going a more suitable trip. He is a couple of kilos under sufferance, but if it was worth bringing him back into training, then he now needs to start showing a bit more in his races.

Double Dash did the donkey work up front and then outpaced. Watch when she goes over a longer trip, as she is now down further in the ratings.

Double Distilled got bumped at the start which negated the draw. I wouldn't write him off, and he needs to go further.

One runner at Fairview on Friday.
Lyrics and Songs in race 3. Has not shown much her first two starts, and does not yet have a rating so way out at the weights. Tries a trip in a small field. Hopefully will show some improvement.

One runner at Greyville on Friday. Golden Angel in race 2. She was somewhat disappointing last time, but that was her first time at the track, and under lights and a wide draw. She drops to 1400m, which shouldn't make too much difference, and gets a better draw and runs in the daytime. The appie should have learnt a bit about her from last time. This looks a slightly weaker field, and I again give her a strong winning chance.

much improved run by Lyrics and Songs, and on that performance won’t be a maiden much longer.
Golden Angel good run in second, beaten by a very good ride by de Melo.

One runner at kenilworth on Sunday.
Warrior of Destiny in race 1. Has cut up to only 4 runners, and Marseilles should win easily unless there is a very talented first timer.
Piet Botha does not push his babies, so presumably will need the run. First foal from very talented mare, Pretty Betty. All her siblings were by Elusive Fort, so this colt is a 3 parts sibling in blood to talented runners Freedom Charter and Ernie. Looking forward to seeing how he goes, as he is a very nice colt.

Sadly, Warrior of Destiny ducked sideways leaving the stalls and dislodged jockey. Even though he remounted and finished the race the rules are that if the jockey hits the ground, automatically disqualified.
That said I thought that he looked good going down and showed a decent action.

We had a nice winner in Mauritius over the weekend with Common Grounds. He was a very useful sort in SA and looks one to follow on the island.

One runner at Kenilworth on Wednesday. Disruptive in race 7. Small field, and up against older hard knockers, and is a couple of kilos under sufferance. He has taken time to mature, but is starting to strengthen up.
With a bit of improvement in a small field of 6, he should be a lot closer to the action, and may squeak a place. Open race, where The Night Ferry and Devil A Saint look the best two.
