OTA give me chance to talk to the Horse care unit as they try and be at as many meetings as possible. I will come back to you asap. Gill might be out for Mothers day.

Many will argue that the sport of racing is cruel from the day the mare gets raped by the stallion to the time that they have to sit in small boxes for up to 22 hours a day for many years and also get cut in half by jockeys jumping on their backs and all the medication that gets shoved into them to heal injuries from racing or do we turn a blind eye to all of this ?

OTA the meeting on this thread they race for 5K 1st prize with a 1k entry fee
So a horse having to travel would probably not cover costs.. Also i might be wrong but this meeting was not an illegal meeting, the issue is the horses still in training running ...
Would be great if we could get to see past results, if it is a regulated meeting some kind of ID/entry system would be kept surely? Or is there no punting?

Bob I get you. Refer to the Bush racing thread of 5 years ago where at least 3 licenced trainers openly confirm that horses still in training participate.
My question remains - why was action only taken now and what betting if any happens?

Ok Zietsman, I apologize for saying you used the word c..t. I have not read that yet in some of the SMS you sent to them and that have been passed on to me. I have seen "fu..ing clueless"( a few times and possibly where the c part of the conversation came in) "go fu.k yourself", "go to hell". I loved the part where you said that "Caribbean is loving it that side" Really? Where do you believe in your heart she would rather be? Bush racing in the back of nowhere after running her heart out for 12 wins and many places for her owners and trainers,or at a nice stud probably about to foal down in a few months?

Taken from Network for Animals
We want to tell you about a cruel practice, ‘bush racing,’ which is on the rise in South Africa. Our gentle equine friends are being hideously exploited for a greedy few, and they suffer major abuse and trauma.
We were contacted by a horse sanctuary that exposed this barbaric sport, which takes place in rural areas. These majestic creatures are forced to run on hot dirt roads whilst being mercilessly beaten.
The horses, usually stolen, are literally raced until they collapse and then discarded like a piece of unwanted trash.
These barbarians use wire instead of bits and bridles and show no mercy when the poor horse’s mouth is cut. This makes it impossible for the horse to eat. Can you imagine being so hungry, yet you are unable to eat because your mouth is cut to shreds?
My team met Have a Heart Horse Sanctuary in Bonnievale, South Africa. The sanctuary has rescued some of the horses, and my team met one named Paddy.
Poor Paddy was petrified of people and struggled to eat due to the injuries she had sustained in this cruel ‘sport.’ Paddy needs rehabilitation which is very expensive and requires extensive veterinary treatment, care, patience and, above all, love.

I remember many years ago a trainer used colouring to camouflage the horse so that no one would know the horse, the horse won apparently the owner didn't know his horse was bush racing.
I thought that bush racing has been stope and banned many years back

Come now Dave! CnC is our mate and might suffer from a sunny disposition (To be fair it could have happened to you or me had we not looked left and right before crossing that road) but we love him all the same. It could also have been caused by watching "Brave Heart" 85 times (the sunny disposition that is) or the lack of sun up north. Mind you I have seen "Brave Heart" a few times as well (hot stukkie his wife) and I'm ok, so it must be the crossing the road bit. :silly: :silly:
Play the ball .... not the man.
I think we can all agree that in this case the HORSE should have come first not a "man" !
