Should trainers that can’t pay a man R742 per week for a 45 hour week get our sympathy?

If that's the minimum they should afford that. Even if they providing accommodation and food, R742 is not huge in my opinion.

Trainers are only following the minimum wage protocol set by the government for grooms who fall under the farm workers act. This is well monitored. So I presume. Not taking any side but if they are paying a legal wage as set by the government then whats the problem.Small trainers will be lost if we expect to increase these wages. As it is small trainers charge minimal fee to train just to survive.Put up the wage and you loose not only the small owner who cant afford it but also the trainer and his grooms without a job.?

No.If they cant pay the current legal government legal wage per week then they should not have our sympathy.Makes you question then what is being paid at Randesfontein where all the big yards are?I am sure the follow the law?

Not typical as it is my job ..... i know what im talking about and if you not working in a yard 24/7 then you speculate on hearsay
5k min and 45 hours you say ..... then how many horses does the groom look after ?

Easy expanation.I for example have a domestic worker looking after my child at home at 3k a month.I earn forsay 10k a month. Now I am to pay a wage of 5k.I would have to get rid of the domestic worker and send my child to a creche for 3.5k.Economics?
