It is FRAUD !!!"
A quote from this owner on her facebook page --
I think the stipes need to charge the owner or the trainer -
If the owner can prove this(I doubt it very much as the poor horse has had extensive vet work and has been unsound for months) then r Azzie has to explain why he gave instructions to the jock to run "waaaay last" . This owner is openly saying Azzie and Jock committed FRAUD... I think perhaps the Orange colours will move onto another owner soon.
As I expected.. STIPES REPORT
THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED:
a) MIDNITE ZONE (M J Byleveld) was exmained at the start and declared fit to race unshod in front.
b) THE CONGLOMERATE (AUS) (P Strydom) was examined at the start and declared fit to race.
c) MIDNITE ZONE (M J Byleveld) returned in mild post race distress.
d) ABASHIRI (G Lerena) returned not striding out.
MrH,I am sure there is an awful lot more to this whole saga than meets the eye but the thread is about her facebook post and if you read her post carefully, her outrage is not the bad run .....it is her ALLEGATION that the horse was prepping (or "not trying to win")
If an owner insists that their horses "race to win" every time they run,how low has racing sunk to, if that makes her the bad guy.(Naivety doesn't transgress any NHA rules)
I personally don't blame the Azzie stable as it is a common strategy that has developed in our racing, but I do think the regulators should be discouraging it ........it breaches their rules!
Maybe I've raced too long .......I'm trying to imagine Jack Sproule's (ex-Jockey club, head stipe) reaction if he had heard a stable suggest that a horse was racing without intent!!!!!!
Rob I think the horse may well be "gone" - I may be wrong but he's unsound - I'm sure she/he has big vet bills to confirm that- Greyville was blamed for that but think that is unfair as the TC has broken many horses .
I doubt the horse was given a run as the vet report supports the fact that the horse did not stride properly. As in all divorces there are two sides to the story but only one truth - for me the truth may be that Abba should have missed the July... There are many horses that battle to find form after the TC and TT .. its a hard program starting in October when they start those smaller Features to qualify for those three races.
On the July thread ,I stated that if he was mine he would not run and I gave him no chance at the weights (he ran far closer than I expected TBH) BUT HE WAS TRYING FOR HIS LIFE,and that is what her allegation is about!
We can only debate what was written ....and she is categoric that it was a prep run -it suggests that as the owner she was told it was a prep run(as opposed to just her opinion)that is supported by her saying "I asked that he is not humiliated"-she then comes across as outraged that they ignored her request and used the Queens Plate as the prep run!
If she was told it was a prep there is no point in debating that aspect.
If,however, she is guessing then she deserves the full force of that new NHA rule!
Lets see how the NHA proceed!

My idea of a prep run is obviously way different to most, because in my mind, a ' prep ' run usually comprises a horse, running over a distance short of its best, being dropped out near the back of the field and then running on in the closing stages to freshen him up for a longer race.
I sincerely doubt that when Mo Farah comes back from a rest, his coach tells him that he needs to run 1 km - which comprises of a 200 m starting sprint and then tailing off at the end.
Gavin had the horse way too handy for this to be just a prep run and anybody who watches the replay can clearly see Abashiri was the first horse off the bit.
For what it's worth, I was at the course on Saturday. Abashiri didn't pick his head up once in the parade ring. He looked like a horse that had nothing left to offer - but then again, when you're and up and coming Superstar, and your greedy little owners watch you romp to an historic Triple Crown, and then throw you into a race to carry more weight than any other 3 year old in history, on a track that was continually touted a mediocre - your fate is all but sealed.
I wonder if they thought his July run was also a prep because he finished in almost exactly the same fashion as he did on Saturday.

His run in the July was phenomenal ...adjusted to WFA conditions , he won it!

And for me, why would trainers prep a horse in a Gr1? Cant they find an allowance plate to do that?

In the betting shop today my friend told me to put all my money on a horse named Landfill.
Turns out it was a rubbish tip!

im an Abashiri fan and lets be honest, his comeback has been dissapointing, prep run or not. i think thats just an excuse.
im afraid to say, not the same horse that won the triple crown, really hope he shows
some of his previous form.

all i would like to see come out of this is the way nha adresses the new social media rule. if this doesnt bring racing into disrepute then nothing will and if the nha does not take action they are not worth anything.

Rumours that Abashiri has moved to a prominent WC yard and has not been retired.
