I don't think we can blame the Azzie stable for using the same strategy as it's competitors because it is allowed and even condoned by the regulators("when in Rome" and all that.....) and that is a separate debate
However,we have some very enthusiastic new owners ,who spent exorbitant amounts of money buying horses and naively expect their equine "babies" to be trying to win every race they run in!!!!
How low has this industry sunk when that requirement makes the Van Vuurens the bad guys in this episode?
On the one hand,it is said they interfere too much and on the other, that it's their fault the horse wasn't scratched-confirms my contention that nobody believes it's the regulators job to enforce the rules!
If they have to use social media to highlight the lack of regulation in racing,so be it!
Nothing else seems to work.

They should get out the game completely. They have done millions and millions and there will be no happy ending unfortunately

As I've said numerous times before... how can the triple crown start with a Gr2 race? Not on your nelly is that acceptable. You can't be a champion triple crown hero when the first leg was a Gr2. So much hype over Abashiri and Louis The King and even when Alexanders horse went for it, forgot the name, but, all had only won a Gr2 first which is hardly exciting! When Horse Chestnut won the triple crown his first leg was a Gr1 Cape Guineas followed by the Gr1 classic and the Gr1 Derby with the Gr1 J&B Met in between for fun, that's a champion and a hero, not these average heroes which make unreal expectations and cause all this drama. Neither of our current triple crown Gr2 heroes went on to do anything else and neither of them had sparking Form before they became Gr2 guineas heroes. Yes they were good and won a Gr1 in the process but they certainly weren't triple crown heroes! They are or were just good Gr1 horses like any other. Legal Eagle on the other hand and what he has done is the real champion in South Africa, just look at his Gr1 form, there is a horse that all the noise should be made about but it's fairly quiet for such a master of a animal!!!!!

When the horse appears in the final field and pitches up on raceday people will decide whether to punt or not. Ifl the stable doesn't come clean and tell the betting public that the horse is not fit and shouldn't win then it is the trainer and owners fault and their responsibility. To my knowledge nobody said a word untill the race was run. It is as Rob says a total abuse of the so called rule that nobody wants to enforce. To air the dirty washing all over social media is childish and distasteful to say the least. My personal view is that both the owners and trainer have let the punters down once again. The very people that make it possible for your horses to race for stakes. I feel sorry for all those that put money on this horse totally oblivious to the fact that it was nowhere near ready to win. As another post said earlier it borders on fraud. But as Rob had pointed out many times before the regulators are gutless. I know Rob and a few others have like myself been in this game a long time and seriously whilst they may be doing the job for shareholders the racing game is deteriorating at an alarming rate. Just my opinion.

The current South African Triple Crown is not really national, it is regional, regional to Gauteng. It should really be called the Gauteng Triple Crown.

I am told that Mrs van Vuuren has taken her posts off facebook. It will be very interesting to see what further action will be taken, if any. In my opinion, she has accused both the trainer and jockey of not trying. This is a serious allegation, and regardless of if these allegations are true or not, deserves investigation. The question must then be whether the Jockey Club is capable of taking this further. I have my doubts. My view is van Vuuren should get out and stay out. He has paid some serious school fees to find out this game can not turn you a profit should you allow your ego to dictate and buy more horses than you can afford to comfortably keep.

Another “blonde” moment from the v vuurens

I think they will cringe in a couple of years thinking of their social media posts of the past 7 months
