No Pirates. It shouldn't change much. At least until the last day or so when obviously it has been "worn". Its not India!
This is not unusual for Adelaide.

Tend to agree Pirates. From what I heard from the Aussie commentators the pitch is normally batting friendly for the first 2-3 days. It looks like Aus can bat till tea tmo the way Clarke is batting. 600+ runs will be a huge task for SA.

englander its not the case of good wicket ,but more at the rate that aussies are scoring.,and in turn buying enough time..todays last 2 sessions were unheard of in test cricket...the commentators were saying that what aussie will do by lunch tommorrow would in any normal test cricketting day, take teams 2 full days to achieve...so weather permitting....this becomes a 6 day test...now sa would have to be super natural to even save a draw combined with the fact they are without kallis..1 of sa's cricketers who can bat time out

The problem SA also face is that if Aus score 650 plus, the Aussie's can afford to employ a very attacking field against us. Scoreboard pressure it is always easier making the runs first that trying to avoid the follow on, reduce the deficit and so on.
Hopefully Kallis can bat I am not sure under the new rules if he would be allowed a runner? He wouldn't bat higher than 7 anyway from the amount of time he has been off the field. We do need him to bat with Faf making his test debut and Rudolph off form, we also have a longer than normal tail with Philander not playing.
The weather is good for the rest of the test, or bad for us, so we will have 5 full days of cricket. We will need Amla to make a massive contribution as well as another top order batsmen coming to the party.

RG, not disputing that at all but if you have a "spinner" going at 7 an over then its no huge surprise really... I watched 80% of the day and he was truly rubbish. Without Kallis bowling too, on that wicket it was a 4 an over wicket, factoring in Tahir I would say the rest of your bowlers did pretty well to keep it overall to 5.5!! As long as the SA dressing room don't do what clanners here seem to be doing and stay calm I would certainly be betting the draw... and not as an idiot bet
I agree re Kallis batting time at the wicket but I think you'll find Amla could bat on there for three days with his eyes closed if he set his mind to it!

Although Tahir did not bowl well, why do you pick a left arm spinner? To win you the match on day 4 and 5 when the pitch is cracking up and turning not Day 1 in perfect batting conditions. Kallis' injury and the other quicks did him no favours he should not have needed to bowl more the 6 or 7 overs.

Clearly SA players are not playing enough Test,s in the last few years compared to all the other top countries.
( Maybe somebody can find the stats )
You also wonder how fit are the players for the longer game, with all the injuries? or maybe just playing to much T20..

Yes a valid point, but imo Tahir has not really produced the goods when the wicket favors him either - and Englander, yes SA hasn't had a match winning spinner for a long while - I've read that Tayfield was very good - but that's before my time
Unfortunately I agree with most opinions on here - if they play the full 4 days that are left, everything points to an Aussie win

i cant see australia bowling us out twice on this flat pitch.we only need 2 or 3 batsman to bat very well and this will be a very boring draw.

Karma has a way to get back at you.
With all this talk about a barrage of bouncers etc.
South African players , coaches and commentators preach the above.
It is about time that we play the cricket and not the man.
