This is a disaster. Clairwood is my fav KZN track and seems to be the fairest of the ones that we have in KZN. I read somewhere else that there is a shortage of boxes already, where are all the horses going to be stored and trained over the winter seasons going forward?
What about all the good races that take place there? Champions day etc. I can see Greyville and the goat track being over used and the question is can these two tracks handle the extra racing?
This all weather track at Greyville idea will be ideal for the Gynae chair racers but for horses sans chair it may be a bit on the tight side. Then again I suppose it works in the UK. Kempton and Wolves poly seems to be similarly tight tracks.
On the few occassions that I have attended the July and whilst walking under the subways, I have always thought about the great horses that have run over my head and just thought wow! I understand its economics over tradition but if one has to think carefully about the special hooves that trampled the Clairwood grass then it is quite a sad day for racing.

There is a members meeting on the 16th at Greyville where all the questions you are asking will be answered. The vote is a week later. They will also explain their ideas and vision for the way forward. Chatting to a few of the ''old guard" at the races yesterday they have changed from opposing to supporting the sale.
