Different strokes for different folks. Not all owners are in it for the punting, and not all stables are "punting" stables. Ultimately, it's up tp them to decide what they want to disclose, and when they they want to disclose it. Personally, as an owner I could not care less if the whole world gets on first because I won't be having a punt worthy of the name. There are plenty more owners like that, from the big names like Mrs O, downwards to the rats-and-mice like me.

Those people who want to bash the bookies are perfectly entitled to keep their cards close to their chests (as long as they don't outright lie). However, a horse becomes "public" property from the moment betting opens to the public on a race. Good luck to the owner if he gets on first, but it is not a God-given right.

if you have an account at a bank , given the account is yours , the bank is not your employee . that's the way i see the relationship between owner and trainer .

All I would like to know is whether the horse is well, improved since last run, missed work, 80 % fit, work improved with blinkers etc. I can then work out the winning or place chance.

This secrecy/owner entitlement is the very reason racing is viewed as corrupt. Imo if racing is to change its perception total transparency must be enforced/encouraged. I don't get why ppl would keep info on their horse a secrete even after they have already taken bets.

once the owner has backed the horse and then says it's not stable money would be wrong IMO but surely he is entitled to get on first???

Guys how many trainers get it right, how often have you heard ''will win'' and the horse doesn't...90% of the time they get it wrong!!! They have no idea if the horse is gonna win in truth, how can you when there are other trainers in a race who have the same opinion about there horse...

in a ten horse field 11 trainers and 12 jocks think they can win - study form and watch them go down - keep your tv on mute and you'll win more

turnover on racing compared to other sectors has declined and at the same time owners trainers and jocks want stakes to go up ...how can you expect punters to bet on a product which doesnt supply them with the wellbeing of horses ...is it fair to banker a horse after a rest then hear later it was out of work needed it badly was a prep etc....as for first timers especially if they in the exotics or if u want to take trifectas qtets how are punters meant to know whether to include them or not?if all the information about the horses was decimanated long before they made their decisions then maybe punters would have faith in the product and wouldnt go spend their money on soccer bets or the casinos...just as punters dont hold a gun to owners heads to buy horses dont expect punters to bet on a product that borders on fraud and theft
