matthew stevens-inside info on zatopek!

OK, then, if the comments on this thread are my guideline, the following should apply -

1) Matthew Lips should not tip in Winning Form, as he doesnt punt. If he was so good, let him go and punt his selections ! Let's get rid of ALL Tipsters, unless it's for free. If Winning Form is FREE, then Lips can tip in it.....What utter stupidity befalls us, sometimes !
2) The likes of Pirates are special, there are very few of them left. This is probably what I miss the most about this modern game - those hardened, really switched on punters who one bumps into on the racecourse and who really know their stuff ! They need no help at all.
3)Again , what about the rest, though ? dont they deserve the freedom of choice in this dept ?
4)What irks me the most about this thread though, is that it is a personal attack on a man, simply because he tipped a favourite which won. He did his job.
5)So, when are we going to start some more personal attacks on some of Racing's leaders and top people ? Why only on Matthew who has been doing the same job for 12 years or more ? And what about the fly by night tipsters with their call lines, which are here today and gone tomorrow ?
6)And Charl Pretorius remains some type of folk hero to ABC forumites in spite of his sicko rantings and ravings against this site and the members of ABC. I have been personally slated by Charl, simply because I dared to post here on ABC. What kind of standards are these ??? Are we scared shitless of anyone who rants and raves... ?
7)Is it ABC's intention to stick Matthew Stevens out of business ? We cant simply live and let live, all of a sudden ? Well, then that's not the ABC that I know and I have been fed a bunch of lies about ABC, then.
8)As for Dunford - why the angle on the story ? If Dunford is the reference, then you are a very ancient non subscriber....? Is that the last winner he tipped ? Matthew tipped Dunford to his subscribers, WEEKS before the July, when it was 50 to 1. He included it in his normal sheet on the day. He advised his subscribers to get a bit of early value, as Robert Bloomberg had told him the horse was very well. Only weeks later, for July Day, did he add his other value horses.
9)As for tipping favourites, let's not show our ignorance here. There are a hell of a lot of false favourites out there. Just ask Mr.Strydom..... Or ask real form students, eg Pirates......or subscribe to The Whisperer.
10) As for Zatopek, it's quite obvious (if you WANT to see the truth), that Matthew studied the form and read Craig's comments in Winning Form, which he gets before distribution.....need more be added ???

Maybe we should have spent more time on congratulating Craig on an excellent Training feat.....And tell us all how you get The Whisperer's info for free.....and why you take notice of his tips at all....seeing as you know it all, anyway.

And maybe you can also tell us all how this man making a living hurts or costs you.....

louis you starting to sound like charl ranting and raving..just like you gave your opinion i gave my opinion on tipsters in general...lips is employed by wf and does race summarys and tipping page as part of his job description... you have an account with hw and you get his opinion gratis....you seem to know a lot more abt my punting habits than i know myself lol

You have 2 choices,you subscribe or you dont subscribe.When i first got interseted in South African racing i had a go with
The Whisperer and i did like his analysis of the races.If i really fancied one and he also liked it i would have a bet.
Because i like a bet at decent prices,his value bets were pretty good.I dont subscribe now because i look at different
sites to put my own card together.Theres no one to blame when your own selections get beat.

As far as tipsters go, I have the utmost respect for Mathew. He at least gives a reason why he tips a horse a best bet or value bet. I don't back short priced horses on anyone's say so tho, except my own. His value bets and general racing knowledge are top class.
Whether he could make a living as a punter or not is academic. If we all backed our first selections every race we would go out.

Racing is about being price orientated and staking correctly. Its also about filtering selections and information.
I have to be honest I really enjoy ABC and think everyone here is cool. However, to sit and post your selections willy-nilly with no rhyme or reason, so you can get a pat on the back if you are right, is not why I race. So every tip on this forum without a valid argument to back it up gets totally ignored by me.

I really don't mean to offend anyone. I have just paid my school fees in the game over the years listening to tips without a valid argument.

Dont confuse my respect for your years and years of doing what you do, with my having any info on how or what you do, Pirates. You KNOW your story, you have earned your stripes, notwithstanding any differences in Racing opinion which we could have from time to time.
At least you do make me think about your opinions etc, which is all good.

The Rantings and Ravings I referred to, include a hell of a lot more than a dogmatic opinion......which is all my post was.

The point on Lips is that he does not tip for free. It is something he is paid to do....His selections form part and parcel of his salary....and when he does get it right, it is advertised.

Its not just the whisperer who tips 4/10 shots ,even mike bass racing tips(R30) per meeting tips odds on shots then claims glory

Lips is the best form tipster in sa imo

Strikers column in the citizen on saturdays is also spot on

its really simple if you want to understand racing study form and 'form' your own opinion, sometimes you'll be right but mostly you'll be wrong. if you are not interested in knowing the game then pay someone else for the tips, sometimes he'll be right but mostly he will be wrong.or you can follow free tips available everywhere sometimes they will be right but mostly wrong.....

What would be interesting is if we could take a look at month in isolation say March. Everyday after the races we look at his PA, Pick 6 and Jackpot and calculate his profit or loss from there.

What I am saying is you cannot see his past tips and he only isolates the best paying dividend. During one of the days I subscribed he had a very good day he had a best bet then 4 other bets of the day. His best bet lost and the 4 other won. His advertising after that was caught the 4 timer at xx/1 what a winner. My point is surely his best bet of the day would have been taken in the all to come and therefore lost. It is nothing personal but he isololates what he advertises he win and doesn't have an past archives where people can scrutinise how well he actually does. As Magi say's if he can stay in business for 12 years doing this then he must be keeping some people happy. For me I would rather do my own form analysis and look what the guys and girls post on ABC.
