@ louisg,
'@ Everyone else... and the abovementioned... tough task, but Variometer is awfully well at home.....Looks like more than just a Beer with Craig....'
Why would you consider it a tough task for Variometer.According to the official handicapper she is best in by 1 pound from Second Tycoon and @ least 7 pounds better than anything else.Contrary to what you say she in fact has everything in her favour. She is obviously a very decent filly whos form on good ground is impeccable. You have in fact found the perfect race for her.
If anything it would be disappointing if she didn't win.

Louis good luck with Variometer, I also think he will be hard to beat. At the weight only Second Tycoon should get close but I think Variometer will do it. (tu)

Had sum great fun reading this thread..
Ok here is what I want to say:
1) Seems a lot of clanners subscribe to his free newsletter even though they dont pay for his tips..
2) Or, maybe they do (pay) and just dont want to admit it..lol
3) I for one get his free newsletter and just love to read it , especially when I see afterwards that he had tipped a horse I had backed (gloating then, see I'm just as good..lmaof)
4) His HORSES TO FOLLOW letter is worth making a note of sumtimes.
And gues what, 1 is running today @ Scottsville in race 8...tipped it in his letter dated 16/10/11.

Do not follow where the path may lead.
Go to where there is no path.....
AND LEAVE A TRAIL

Also in race 9 mate..
Princess Rasta, I'm sure he made her 1 to follow..
And you are right his horses to follow are WORTH following..
Past Master(won the Met)
Nysean Bolt(won a few)
Igugu(can't explain)
Polar Bound(we all know what he did of late)
And a few other that I can't think of..
As I said Previously, Matthew Stevens has a Huge Clientele and thus(as a few other have said) he must be doing something right..
What I think, is that even though he tips a hottie, maybe some people need a lot of encouragement before they 'buy money' as compared to others.
Eg..if joe soap liked Countess of Rhynie on saterday at 5/10 and he trusts his selections he wouldn't think twice and place a R30000/R60000 bet because he trusts his form study.
On the other hand, Jane soap is new to the game, but willing to spend to make. But doesn't understand handicapping and maybe doesn't trust her own selections..and thus relies on the confidence of the likes of Matthew Steven/ John sweet/ShezaPunter(just kidding) etc

He did even in his news letter. Unlike matthew he does provide his strike rate on his website.
all i can say he is good at P-E
He tipped a P/A at Greyville a few years back with a dividend of K500

Yes sorry I stated that I did well at Arlington, when in fact it was Fairview yesterday. Old age catching up with me.
Well done for those of you who spotted my deliberate mistake
.
All my selections and results are still available on
I update them once a week so everyone can see all my selections which were available the previous week.
New website will be up and running soon
