Instead of us all pointing to the obvious problems I propose the following solution to the issues.

As the late close up to 55 seconds after the race in conjunction with co-mingling has created the problems we encounter we should close the tote to overseas bets on the off and allow them the 55 seconds to clear the admin issues, after which we then close the local totes for betting, allowing a further 55 seconds to corret errors and ommissions.

The results of this should be:-

1. No complaints from local punters as you will be able to bet on horses after they have crossed the line. Win R 1, Places R1 R1 R1
2. Phumelela should get increased turnover initially which must be good for the stakes pot. Thereafter these troublesome punters who bother the tote staff by daring to ask them to work should quickly disappear leavng everyone happy.
3. Overseas punters are disadvantaged in the same manner as local punters are now.

Lateral thinking at its best. Lol.

Gajima in the 70's and 80's totes closed at I think 12'o'clock or 1pm - You had to go to the rooms or track to take a bet. This did not deter punting(bottle stores closing on sundays also did not stop drinking on Sundays) Your solution is fair and just perhaps two minutes before the off time all systems close worldwide afterall there is another local race in 30 mins to punt on so what's the problem if you really need to have a punt? Surely if you haven't made a choice five mins before the off you aren't going to with 30 seconds to the off unless watching the horses load is going to affect your final choice(I know some guys do wait for this but not the majority)

Mr Attenborough stated that the reason for the delay was that if all the international bets came in individually it would crash the system and therefore they have to package the bets.

P spent R40mill(or whatever the exact figure was)on lights, but surely an updated tote system should have been the priority. It always the same, excuses, excuses, excuses.(I shouldn't be writing this as I said I was finished with wasting my breath on these useless smucks, but I couldn't help myself).Mr A clearly did not know all the answers to Robin's questions and turned to Mr GC for some leads. Why am I not surprized.

I think that Phumelela and Gold Circle have completely missed the point here. Punters don't care about scan rates or transfer protocols or whatever other technical excuse that can be made, but in the poor payout they are getting. The answer is simple - simply have a big bet lockout on win and place bets in the last minute. The integrity of the payouts would then be protected from anyone trying to manipulate the dividends, Mr Attenborough proudly announced last night that one overseas punter put R20,000 on a horse in the last minute and reduced the dividend from R8 to R2 as if this was a good thing, and then added that IT HAD WON. If bets were restricted to a maximum of say R500.00 from the time the warning light comes on, the problem would go away.

Gajima you are correct in what you said above, its a matter of training everybody, and after 1 or 2 attempts the punters will get it right.

A shutout system will not work.

We have big syndicates betting into our pools now. These syndicates are very price sensitive as their models are all based on probability/price,so they would definitely not be putting large sums into a pool knowing that they are going to kill their dividends. They are therefore not the ones causing the betting anomilies. However, they do put their bets into the system very late so that anyone using tracking software finds it more difficult to see what they are doing until it is too late.

I know it as fact that the worlds biggest punter(who is Australian based) is betting into our pools. These are the people P wants betting into our pools, because they play big.

The concept that there is no ways that these people can possibly be cleverer than locals is absolute hogwash. They are professionals, who make a billion+ rands a year on an international scale. The SA market is miniscual on a global scale, but it's a market with opportunities none the less.Obviously P can't divulge punters info, you wouldn't want them divulging yours would you,but the truth of the matter is the world has come to SA and the international interest will definitely keep on growing, specifically because of where we are on the Greenwich time line.

There will still be a lot of aggravation that flows under the bridge before we come even close to any resolution, and please believe me there is no ways that P are going to do anything to antagonize these potentially lucrative markets.

must remember the average IQ of 70 for Africa is made up by the staff from Phumelela too..
they are also included..
not sure if they are the reason that we are at 70 average..lifting us from 25 average to 70...or bringing us down from 140 to 70...
debateble if we lsiten to the answers and reasons they give without furnishing the facts..

if they print the DADATBASE LOG tape, we will see a record written AWAY FOR EACH BET, showing the amount, race, horse, bet type, date, time, IP address (country)..

however, for months they have dodge this route..prefering to bullshit everyone using the newspapers and now a TV show..
look at the track record of their replies and see how their story changes..

boys..time to sell the phumelela shares...bound for a huge drop in share price..
sell now..avoid loosing millions..
Greg, derek, lets go short..these guys are going to cause the share price to drop with their bullshit answers...
