And why no Gauteng meeting yesterday

Final Fields out for 01/01/2018 Durbanville
52 Runners in total
Races 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 - Have 5 Runners in each Race.
Summer Season - Bring and Braai the thyme for the Day.
Public Holiday.
Whether perfect , all Overseas owners - Which is what we are trying to promote.
Buy SA and come spend summer in Cape Town .
Just upgraded Durbanville track , promoting to the Durbanville residence in the area , the to support the race course .
Not sure what the problem is , Are the Tracks to hard because of No Rain.
Are the Trainers all on Holiday
Does WCR and Its A Rush actually give a F.ck

Maybe the carded options don't match the current horse population, maybe it's a little ambitious of the Operators expecting yards to fill five cards in two weeks? (Saturday 23 December, Wednesday, 27 December, Monday 1 January, Friday 5 January and Saturday 6 January?).
Has anyone asked the trainers?

I didn't say I had the answer, I was just offering a suggestion.
If you are being offered an easy earning opportunity on a plate, it doesn't make sense not to use it unless there's a good reason.
Hence my asking whether anyone has asked the trainers what their reasons are (there must be some, surely?)

Cape racing a joke/
in winter they dont race cause to much rain.
in summer its to hot.
in december the trainers are in Camps Bay relaxing.
if u take KZN trainers Drier and Kannemeyer out the picture is even worse.
Snaith racing have the biggest yard bar none. not a runner. are they boycotting Durbanville.
Katz has biggest owner in WC. MAYFAIR/JOOSTE are bankrupt and probably going to Jail. 3 runners
Kotzen big yard few runners
No Rupert runners
No Bret crawford runners
No Kieswetter runners
No Finch runners
I would close the place down and move stakes to PE and Gauteng.

Some Interesting Comments Comming out of Sportting Post On this subject.

One gets the feeling that everybody is too scared to come out and identify the issues.
We spend our lives throwing stones and playing professor and coming up with all kinds of smart arsed marketing ideas to save the game we love.
20 years ago I used to visit Kenilworth, I worked in the game and felt a part of it.
Those were the days that we hadn’t heard about Larry Wainstein and the RA, where we all still felt part of the establishment. The days that assistant trainers and stable staff eagerly awaited their complimentary Met ticket in that envelope. The days before fancy cappuccinos and decor, when the food was pretty ordinary but the atmosphere was great!
The days that we would look forward to nipping through to the course on a Wednesday afternoon to watch the last few races and just take in the atmosphere and see friends and acquaintances.
We didn’t realise then how much we should have valued Rodney Dunn and his cocktails and racing evenings and the auction of the Met runners – and even the Guineas dinners.
Fast forward to the present and Kenilworth has lost its soul.
Vaughan Marshall and MJ Byleveld win the Guineas and who stands on the podium? Yes, you’re right, Mr Clyde Basel – waxing lyrical with the usual Phumelela speak. Thanking the world and, of course, in tow – the usual entourage popularly known amongst the old school Cape racing folk as the Gauteng Gravy Train. The guys in suits – the Execs. There has got to be at least 10 of them. They pitch up in the Cape for the Met launch, ordinary features, the big features and then still hog the limelight in Gr1 post-race celebrations.
Do these guys realise that they have messed up the game with their remote control ‘management style’?
They are clueless and as the story above suggests, they will be here for the glitz and glamour of the Queen’s Plate festival.
I’d like to challenge Mr Basel and his cronies to tell us what their travel and accommodation costs are and what he actually achieves by mooching around the racetrack on a Saturday, looking smug?
Wouldn’t those rands be better spent offering every ordinary punter a nominal betting / meal voucher to attend races?
Let’s cut the smiles and the crap.
The time for change is now. It’s never been more urgent!

The Gauteng Gravy Train is apt.
Whatever happened to all those promises about sorting Cape racing out once the gods from the North took over? Heads were going to roll if the stables did not give a certain amount of runners a season. Looks like thats seen its arse along with Markus Madoff.

Anyone know why Brett Crawford and Mr Marshall nominated then never declared?
Something more to this if you ask me
Plus Snaith never even nominated (Fair enough)

So I’m hearing a few trainers have been advised to protest about the caffeine positives by disrupting our enjoyment
Suppose they think Racing won’t survive without them
