For me it was Royal Badge. A distance short of its best over 1600m, showed a good turn of foot and almost ran third. Can run in races like the Lonsdale, Gold Circle Derby, Gold Vase, 2200m Consolation Race and the Gold Cup during the season. Also the Cup Trial could be an option.

Ten Gun Salute guaranteed a run in the July.Fancied horses were in need of a run on Friday after disrupted prep work with all the rain.
Lets see if Bela Bela and Capt America accept to run ,methinks not.

agree with you 100%, the horse that we thought delpech will ride last year in the July but that did not happen, Its my Turn finished best of the Snaith's runners. Strydom was not supposed to ride it in the Derby but got the ride and won on it, this year B FAYD'HERBE rode it well and finished the best of the Snaiths runners again, again not being the fancied horse from the Snaiths stable. B FAYD'HERBE may not ride it in the July, if for some reason he does, then It's my turn will again finish ahead of the other Snaith's runners. then in that case i will only be backing one horse.....at around 10's or up to 14's for a win and around 2.2 for a place should be close as the place bet of the year????

Nebula after a good win on poly track on sat has certainly raised his hand as well as Edict of Nantes run . Nebula beat Elusive Silver in the PE derby so no reason for him not to finish in front of Elusive Silver again when they next meet

Nothing is impossible in racing, but Nebula was beaten convincingly by It's My Turn in the Peninsula Handicap in January receiving 5 kgs - won't be receiving that much in the July (if he gets in) so imo needs significant improvement to make this His Turn ;)

I have yet to make up my mind on Edict of Nantes - beat Zodiac Ruler by 1.75 in the Cape Derby (a false run affair if memory serves); also finished about a length in front of Heavenly Blue in the Cape Guineas where both came from wide draws - so in theory Al Sahem should hold EoN on SA Derby form - putting EoN on par with Pagoda who looks much better value at current odds; Daily News big pointer here where all these contenders (plus Tilbury Fort) have been entered

Nice explanation Frodo can't have either Nebula or Elusive Silva after your concise analysis will look else where now .Would like to hear your shortlist after the Daily News meeting . Cheers
