Betting World - How are they still in business?

If you bet with Betting World you must have rocks in your head.

Unfortunately I was in one of their outlets the other day. Their strategy is very simple - whatever WSB bets, they just shorten their odds by 2 points

How do these people make money if they continuously offer the worst prices in the industry?

As for their staff, they seem to be trying to scrape the bottom of the barrel in terms of competency.

Definitely a bookmaker to be avoided!

The outlet in somerset west has 3 windows and lines out the door playing soccer bets, guys playing the machines....and a handful of horse punters....sad!!!!

And yes their odds are pathetic especially place odds!

The accountant at Phumelela when he was giving his results presentation readily admitted that one of the reasons that Supabets was acquired was to learn from their superior management. This was in response to a journalist asking why Supabets profits were 7 times the ratio of Betting World. Cringe worthy in the extreme.

Figjam not neccesarily to blame. The fish always rots from the head. It is like in tough times the board usually retrench reps and curtail marketing spend....when they should be quadrupling both.
It is my guess that 'austerity' measures are the order of the day.... so the calibre of staff will match the spend.

Morning Dave,

Have you seen how badly the big firms are betting for a place on the Cup.

Betting World: Juxtapose (16-1) are 2.48 a place first 4.

Betting World: Saratoga Dancer (12-1) a place 1.86

Surely any horse at 16-1 should be 4-1 a place like UK.

Do you agree?

Cheers,

They are place only markets

In the UK the eway betting is cool but you are punting both equally

R10 a win
R10 a place

So if you have your R10 ew on a 16/1 shot 1/4 odds and the horse runs placed only you receive R50 profit of R30

If you just place your R20 at 2.48 you receive R49.6 a profit of R29.6

Remember 1/4 of the odds is/was a norm for 3 places...........4 or more places have always been more restricted!

Yes it's also field size related and handicap etc plus money on shots taken into consideration however a wee bit tight with our local place prices however we look at it
