Not sure why ......only 2 horses had the FORM to be short priced ,and both won!
I'm rarely sure why either Rob, if people don't like Bingo, stay away, simple
And yes, of course, I know that is not what you meant lol
The problem is that Flamingo has already got a lot of people "staying away" and seeing as they are stand alone meetings they constitute 14% of a weeks racing ......I'm not sure that "staying away " is whats best for the industry!
Rob, not being funny or rude but I'm not really in the mood for a light-hearted tongue-in-cheek comment to be turned into a serious discussion on the pros n cons of BingoIt is quite evident from the weekly threads that you and others are no great fans and, even though it is rare these days for me personally to have a losing day at Bingo, I have some sympathy for those feelings (though I think they are often exaggerated and unfair, especially when compared to results elsewhere too blah blah blah). If it closes I shant cry. If they close Greyville on the other hand I might go out for a celebratory drink or 10!
.
Perfect .....when I want a serious discussion ,you don't spring to mind anyway!

Thanks Bob. The filly was above herself and after the bump at the start she just took off and over raced.
There is no more sand course for Winter and the turf is very firm underneath, with only 3 mm of rain so far this Season. I am afraid of damage to legs on grass gallops and my appriach is to minimise risk of injury wherever possible. We do our best to hive every horse a good career like Trip Tease, Dan, Move like Jagger etc. Even though our string has grown, we have had to sit on most horses until the rain comes. We still have 23 unraced 3 year olds to come out. In contrast, a filly like Pippi Shortsock has run 18 times this year....she is happy doing that.
However, today, I gave taken criticism which has left me in doubt as to whether I should comment or just refuse to comment in future.
Whilst I posted on this very thread, even before sending out my raceday sms, I still take flak here. And immediately after posting here I sent same to Tellytrack. It's not my problem to disseminate that info before exotics etc.
You are damned if you do and you are damned if you don't.
Some were very quick to jump on the bandwagon. By the way, how did the favourite do in the last race ? I had left by then and never saw the race. It probably romped home !

Louis I thank you for being open with us and the race went just as you said- could get caught out over the last 200m.I was just saying the bookies seemed to give it absolutely no chance,as we saw with them drifting it out alarmingly.

They obviously spotted her being above herself in the ring and that was why they drifted her.And again your transparency is much appreciated.

There was also money for others in the race, think the winner was punted from 5/1 into 3/1?

Bob, never underestimate the power of ABC. Quite a few people came up to me on course and asked about my post on ABC...The word goes around. My Owners were not advised to have a bet and this was done early. Obviously, in the absence of confidence from the yard, the bookies will drift her...

I would like to ask the stable a simple question, with a run like she had today, bumped, over-raced, compounding etc........does that not affect a horse's confidence and mental approach to racing and if so how long will it take her to overcome the run ????

She must learn to settle Rowdy. I think that goes back to her first run where she was sent very early. That was against a very weak maiden field. She was rolling along on empty in the last 150m in that race, but the poor field were also running on empty.
With this type of horse, it is normally more rather than less racing that let's the penny drop....And also some assertive commands from the saddle.
We sometimes get too excited about a maiden win. When I saw the price for today, I had to let everyone know to be cautious....
The programme is what it is. On 1st October, we have about 20 nominations. She will probably run there in the Sophomore. But because of the grass and because I felt that she would need a race first, I threw in today's race. This is not ideal, but I cannot change the programme.
The bottom line is wear and tear. There is only so much that each horse can take in its career. Why shorten that career through grass gallops on Winter turf in Gauteng ? That's my thinking....
