Judicial might squeak in before the likes of The Congomerate.

Just Solid Speed , Mambo Mime, Ten Gun Salute and Punta Arenas from Durban that really have a chance ?

DK's satellite yard is Cape Town not Durban.

On the Jooste 5. Before the BW1900 I think Deez said the talk is Marcus would chose St Tropez when offered him, The Conglomerate and Deo Juvente. So Legal Eagle and Rabada wasn't even brought up. Wonder how Deo Juvente's recovery has gone as well ? Hasn't run since that unfortunate incident.

It would be an absolute amazing win if Legal Eagle won giving SO much weight to other runners. He would carry 60kg while the rest of the field would be averaging 54kg. Too much of a tough task if you ask me, especially over 2200m, 6kg is a massive amount to give away in a grade 1 over that distance to almost 16 other runners!

Owner Adriaan van Vuuren was on course at Greyville on Saturday and said his beloved Lammerskraal Stud-bred Mike Azzie-trained SA Triple Crown-winning hero Abashiri had recovered well from his grueling SA Derby victory and if things continued to go well he would definitely line up for the Vodacom Durban July.

Van Vuuren has won many fans due to both his passion for the Sport Of Kings and an obvious love of horses and he is already embracing the July with the same enthusiasm he brought to Turffontein for the Triple Crown bid.

In fact on Saturday he delivered a gift bag to the manager of Lammerskraal Stud, Sally Jourdan, which contained, all in his bright orange colours, an Abashiri theme scarf, cap, bottle of champagne, flash drive with all of his wins on it, a ‘King Abashiri’ saddle cloth, and a personalised T-Shirt for Jourdan with the words “Abashiri, Vodacom Durban July 2016 here we come” and on the back “Go Abba go.”

Marinaresco 18th on the log. Touch and go there as the winner of the Cup Trail is sure to get in.

Also you have to consider the 2nd place runner in the Gold Circle Challenge if not in the top 18 and the Jubilee Handicap Winner as well.

Even if Legal Eagle gets scratched and Abashiri it might not be enough for Marinaresco.

Also The Conglomerate 23rd on the log.

Legal Eagle (Doubtful)
Abashiri (Doubtful)
Olma (Can't see this one staying 2200, might scratch for better races)
Rabada (Marcus said massive stamina doubts, maybe they scratch for better races)
Paterfamilias (I'm sure I read somewhere that bass wanted to go for 1600 races with this horse)
Solid Speed (DK could try another crack at the Gold Vase instead of July)
Deo Juvente (Over his injury yet? Think Rising Sun challenge will tell us, could scratch)

At least 6 of those top 20 I would have strong doubts about

Well firstly they seem to have not updated the latest MR - e.g. Solid Speed 106 and not 103....so not sure when the NHA would publish the ratings after this weekend's features - and how that would influence the log.

I also find it a bit strange that Black Arthur is lower on the log that Rabada and It's My Turn.

I think Marinaresco will get in as there are quite a few above him who remain doubtful - some more likely than others - Legal Eagle, Bela-Bela, Negroamara, Samurai Blade (not a great run this weekend - but maybe the draw could be used as an excuse), Paterfamilias.

But it does look that those of us that backed The Conglomerate ante-post may end up regretting that decision - unless he can win the Cup Trial of course (which does not seem likely as he did not crack a great draw)

Solid Speed with its merit rating will carry almost top weight (59/60kgs) in the Gold Vase and give weight all around. It had three tries beyond 2800m and never has won. It will go for the July in my opinion.

Deo Juvente entered in the Jubilee Handicap.

Olma entered for the Cup Trail. Hard to see her taking her part in the Garden Province on WFA terms with top fillies, Inara, Silver Mountain, etc. Will go for the July Consolation Race (Campanajo) most likely.
