As these big days are almost always punting disasters I have taken one 'dream' bet for not very much money. For the rest I'll just socialise.
Ertijaal x Arcetri Pink x Gold Onyx : R1million/R1100.
Ertijaal x Arcetri Pink x Gold Onyx (Place treble) : R20k/R900
So my R2k donation is in. I expect to painlessly exit in the first leg & go home having survived the day pretty cheaply.
If I win I'll freshen up my 8 yr old Porsche on Monday morning. Lol.
Maybe get out of it in the Chelsea/Man City match at 1930?

As a veteran of the Met since my first (actual attendance) in 1973 I would like to gently repeat a couple of cautionaries :
1.) The Met is a little like an auction - you can get quite caught up in the day and do unnecessarily big money!
2.) It is one of those rare days when fields are well filled and there are a lot more genuine triers than usual.
3.) In contrast to what the betting would suggest this race throws up a surprising number of upsets.
4.) Don't forget that the 2800 m stayers race has produced only one winning favourite in its entire history.
5.) It is often a good idea to do your serious punting at the lesser meeting on the day; where the fields are sometimes smaller and better riders in short supply.

I have got to stop overthinking and just trust the good horses will do the job and look forward to the races themselves
Great day to all of you and try not to let hindsight bite you in the ass

Outsiders I like eachway .... Lanners Falcon, Night Trip (10/1 a good price), Kingston Mine
Silicon Valley on his last race looks a 'good thing'... on LBH would have beaten Cold As Ice giving her 1.5kg's. What price would she be in that field ? carries 5.5 kg's less today. Fitness must however be taken on trust !
I am bowling unfortunately but will read about the action on ABC later.
Our little bowls club with 40 bowlers and only one green are TOP of the Premier division ... {grin}...sorry, just had to get that in !!!
Break a leg all !
