The result of the objection will clearly remain conjecture EVEN UNDER THE OLD RULES.
What is needed is a review of the rules or interpretation to stop a national debate everytime there is an objection.
All I know that under the old rules, racing people did not argue nearly as much and we got the decision right most of the time.................at the moment it's anybody's guess!

Agreed - review the rules ASAP - Get rid of the subjective elements and if needs be follow OUR OWN PATH - Why do we have to use International Guidelines? Are we not capable of making equitable rules that will be supported by the Racing Industry? My suggestion is interfere and you are gone

is it good to have the decision made final without the opportunity to object or appeal? nowadays appeals have to go to court, which is costly. So that sort of puts the damper on the situation if you feel, as in this July, there was possible margin of error on the stipe's behalf?

Don, the decision with objections has to be made then and there and not wait for appeals as punters have to be paid out on their bets. I would hate to guess how much money was tied up in straight bets, doubles trebles, exotics etc that punters were waiting to collect. A decision was made with the best stipes in the country officiating and racing must carry on. We might not all agree with their decisions but they have watched many more races than we have and been involved in many more objections. We do not all agree with Rugby or Football refs and their decisions could and have changed the results of games but their is no appeal. 80/90 mins and the result is up and punters are paid out whether we agree or not. They are not biased and must make the decision and give the verdict. I saw in Sporting Post, one of the posters said that the stipes changed the result as they had their money on Legislate. :S If I was a stipe and read that I would sue him!

Well said Craig and you are right using a comparison with sports we can all hate a wrong call from the ref especially when we have a punt involved but at the end of the day it's done and dusted and we have to move on

As James G just said to me "can you imagine the comments etc if they had not upheld the objection!"

Colours, apparently they are going to strip the track right down as far as they can go and then top dress it and re seed it. I have not heard that from the top yet but it was mentioned the other day. Interesting stat is that although Greyville had 12 races and Clairwood 8 on Wednesday, according to the Vet reports, twice as many horses went lame in front and behind at Clairwood than on July day. 2 from the Clairwood racemeeting had to be put down.

Lets hope they get it right once and for all.Shortcuts and cost saving measures are expensive
I recall reading a similar response from you about trainers complaining about Scottsville when guys here were in an uproar about Greyville

I have no problem with the official outcome of the objection even thou on a personal level i feel Legislate would not have won & Legislate has not run straight in his last 3 runs. He will not run straight in his next few finishes either...
My point is simple really, if I was jockey Delpech i would not accept the suspension as the stipes did s not raise an objection. How can the ride of Virgo's Babe warrant a suspension and not an objection???
There should have been an objection by the stipes and Virgo's Babe relegated to second for costing Crescendo third place. I know that the rules have changed but what is the reason for Delpech's suspension if there was no objection???
