Go Louis
IMO no Horse Chestnut but we could do with something to spark racing, good idea .

Who is Louis? Ask the Bourgeoisie. Hopefully he can keep his head and wear the crown.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Funny how this horse is not getting the buzz that pierre jourdaan got or even igugu or cherryonthetop.
I feel he is an excellent animal and I didn't even gv him achance 2 win he guineas let alone the clasic as well. His classic win was very good, dug in deep and got up, signs of a horse with a big heart

Can't wait bro, SA racing needs a champ. U know, this question always irrit8s me, and maybe some1 can help me. For the life of me, I cnt understand why Pierre Jourdaan wasn't taken down to KZN for the season after his 2nd to irish flame? He was in the form of his life and imo wouldve given both Bold Silvano and Irish flame a HUGE run for their money in the features they won. Because I don't think any of those 2 horses can finish 1legth off Igugu ather prime and that's exactly what Pierre did the following year, when we all know wasn't his best of forms in his carreer?

I still can't see how you can have a triple crown with the first leg being a Gr2? Surely if it's to be so prestigious and such a big thing, then the first leg and all 3 legs should be Gr1 races? Remember, when Horse Chestnut won the triple crown the first leg was the Cape Guineas Gr1 so all 3 legs were Gr1 races making it a true triple crown and needless to say, a true champion won it!

It depends on the horse, but in general the main thing to remember that horses are flesh and blood and if they take part in the Triple Crown, that means they have to be conditioned to be at the top of their ability for almost 3 months - for those that have gone that route it really takes a super animal (and conditioner) to keep the horse at his peak through the KZN season as well; so for 3 yr olds, many feel that if you want the horses to 'train on', the horses need a break after a tough Gauteng campaign - it will be interesting to see if LTK (and the Laird runners like Bouclette Top and As You Like) goes to KZN :S
It will also be interesting to see how Cape Town Noir shapes up in KZN after his trip to Gauteng - which has been a set-back for many Cape stars before him :S

A true Triple Crown in South Africa would be (Three GR1's) in all 3 Provinces, Cape Guineas(Ken) - Classic(Turff) - Daily News(Grey) , that would be a fair and true triple crown.. As it stands now it's a Jhb triple crown starting with a Gr2, eish!

In theory, I agree, but in practice it brings all sorts of logistical problems - for one, the races would need to be re-scheduled to be run closer to each other - messing up either the Cape or Gauteng seasons (or both), also you'd probably need a new sponsor, etc. Perhaps the way to go would be (if a sponsor can be found) to introduce some sort of 'Super Series', encompassing the races mentioned - but that would take away some of the gloss of the current Triple Crown
