I know I'm hi-jacking the thread again, but do you know what the story is with the Vaal - as far as I know P is leasing the Vaal from Anglo- American (or it may be De Beers) ? And there were some rumours doing the rounds some time ago that the lease period was coming to an end and that it was not going to be re-newed - and subsequently there were more stories doing the rounds that a new facility was going to be put up (somewhere in the Krugersdorp area ?).
As far as the Vaal sand is concerned, imo it is serving it's purpose and should continue to be available as an alternative racing surface - lots of horses have been given a new lease of life because of the sand track - and even IF they ever put in a Poly in Gauteng (that issue has also gone very quiet), the sand track should still be available as another option - hence my question about the future of the Vaal :S

Morning
I think I might become a fan of the Poly Track as well. Just as the Trainers & Jocks will be on a learning curve so will the Punters be. What encourages me is that there were Horses that ran on very nicely and that the front runners got caught, mostly by Horses that were reasonably well placed. Also IMO the Turf form in general held up very well on the Poly. Another positive is that the Poly track is supposed to be kinder on the Horses which at first glance appears to be the case.
I hope they use the Poly track very often in the short term so that ALL can get accustomed to it quickly. IMO every Racing centre should install a Poly surface similar or equal to the PE version as a matter of urgency.

.....it is still early days..... for praise..... but I also like this track.....Martin Colins has teamed up with the right type of people locally that have an emmence understanding of local conditions and the substates that are required to keep the tracks in optimum condition.....(tu)

Form held up solidly on the poly. Some horses were able to quicken up really well. Good to hear of no injuries.
Definitely seems the way forward. Thumbs up to all concerned.

Bignic don't think they can go much further than 2000 ,but will come back to you
What I have been told that we won't loose a meeting
Only thing that can jeopardise a meeting is wind and visibility

U are all missing the point....they weren't negative about the polytrack....all that was said is that the decision to move the main race was made too early with very little consultation and in hindsight that it could have been run on the grass yesterday.....
