great win by proteas and some nice performances by the usual suspects.wen duminy is fit and ready we will be an even better team with faf now cementing his spot at the expense of rudolph.

as for the ashes, england will murder the aussies imo.aussies only hv 2 quality batsman in their capt and hussey, but too much weight on there shoulders.aussies are rebuilding and will be a major force in a few years time.

in the meantime its our moment in the sun and our time to be at the top of the pile so we must enjoy it,because being the best test nation goes in cycles and with this wonderful bunch of players we hv now, i suspect we will be top of the pile for many years to come and hopefully we will replace our stars wen they do retire.again well done to the proteas on a marvellous demolition job of the former dominant team in world cricket.

Sheza, no disrespect, its a new day and after this, I don't want to debate this one further, my head is bruised from yesterday's wall bashing lol. At least you made the effort to support your words, thanks (tu) Apart from Broad who is hopelessly out of form and could well be dropped, I disagree regarding the England bowlers and their overall records support this imo. However, you are also right in saying that Watson is a very decent cricketer (though I am not convinced he is the force he once was) and Lyon looked much better than any Oz spinner used in the last Ashes. Clarke had an abysmal last Ashes series. Ponting's replacement could be the next superstar. All these factors could well result in the Aussies putting up a much improved performance against England. That said, to turn around the trouncing they got in Oz will take some achieving. If they do it, I will be the first to acknowledge the feat. Hussey and Clarke remain crucial wickets, the rest bother me not. Nothing in their bowling attack concerns me. And they have lost the last two series in England with, imo, better teams. I saw very little real class against SA on two very good batting tracks and one where they hope their left arm swing bowlers will win it for them. I still say SA batted very poorly in Adelaide and that may perhaps be why people are thinking the Oz attack has some potency, I believe it was a very poor SA batting performance rather than a particularly good Oz bowling one. So, taking everything into account, talk of England getting hammered or the like, based on the facts, imho makes no sense at all and indeed makes my idiot horse selections look positively sensible (:P)

I agree with that statement and I do recall you saying we threw our wickets away ... I still don't believe England will bowl Oz out twice in Oz... and when the series starts I will put my money where my mouth is.

When does the Ashes series start Englander ??

2013
10-14 July 2013 First Test, Trent Bridge
18-22 July Second Test, Lord's
1-5 August Third Test, Old Trafford
9-13 August Fourth Test, Emirates Durham ICG
21-25 August Fifth Test, Oval

and the return will start in November at the GABBA, Brisbane followed by Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and into 2014, Sydney

I see a certain Mr G Smith is tipping England for the first series at least. Think he has just captained the team who has played both recently. Consequently, please could anyone with further daft comment address their comments to him ;)

Magi... I'm really not going into again bud but how can you say that? Its not been two years and the teams have not changed that much since we bowled them out twice in three tests... with plenty to spare. It wasn't even close. One over a daily early, the other two on the morning of the final day. I was at them all and it really was a massacre. Ok, things can change etc and the Aussies may have improved but it strikes me as a very odd statement to make so strongly.

Shows you what I know - for some reason I thought they were playing in Aus - so I have to retract my statement of a white-wash by Australia - certainly in England it is a different kettle fo fish - would still go for an Aussie series win though (tu)

Your not so far wrong Frodo, they are back-to-back so to speak. The one in Oz starts three months or so after the one in England finishes.

Shrek... that just adds to my worries!!! lmao >:D<

Magi, I did read your lips... but what makes you think this Oz side has improved so much that it will be reduced from three to maybe one? Don't answer, its more of a rhetorical question for yourself, cos I really don't see that they are that different or that improved.

Anyone tell me who this new guy England have called Anderson is? Commentators are describing him as brilliant, fantastic, bowling really really well etc etc etc... Judging by all the comments from the cricket experts here, it can't be the one known as Jimmy cos he's pretty ordinary to not very good apparently :S lol

WOW Anderson has 2 for 58 in 18 overs, brilliant, sublime, superb. Imagine if he picks up a 3 for. X(
