As far as I gather full house every meeting bookies hold huge cash bets, its on my bucket list.
Many SA horses, whatever they are doing they would appear to be doing well, its a tight track and the commentator is based in Joburg...lol

Cant beat the atmosphere, especially after winning on a well fancied horse. Quite a downer riding at Kenilworth after spending a season in Mauritius. Normal Saturday the crowd can get up to 20000, Maiden Cup Day (there biggest race) the crowd can get up to 50000.

Mark, you just the one I been wanting to talk to about Mauritius......I know that the racing is pretty strict there but somebody told me that horses that accept for a race are put into a (guarded) restricted area and any contact by connections, before the race is supervised by the authorities......is it as strict as that?

Horses that are running on the weekend have to be in Port Louis (Race Course) the Monday preceding the race day. The horse will be under strict security and its stable will be locked. 1 key with the groom the other with the security guard. The guard is responsible for following his allocated horse the whole week, and I mean FOLLOW him!! From his box to the track back again, they watch while they get hosed down, fed, walk in the afternoon and they even have to watch the groom sift through the bedding in case something is hidden in it. Jockeys get randomly asked to dismount and strip searched in case they might be hiding something themselves. Urine samples are done before races and on winners after the race as well. Security cameras in all the yards. Amazingly people still manage to get to some of the horses. Its unfortunate that because of a few idiots the horses on the Island have to live in such harsh conditions. For that week the horses are outside for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. Luckily when races are done they move to a cooler climate in the middle of the Island where there is another training center where the security is not that strict.

Island racing has been fairly good to me this season, I just wish Eccentric would give us some decent tips:D>

Thanks Mark>
Compare that kind of protection for their punters, to what we get.!
I know at least 3 big punters who now punt the island as their main betting venue.
