Yes.
Takes time, say 6 months to year depending severity.
No guarantees either, some come back only to succumb again.

Yes, but we have one that seems to have healed and can hopefully come back to race.
2 months box rest, then to a spelling farm, shoes off and in a paddock for at least 2 months. then slow walks, cautiously upping the work load.
There's lots of info on this on the internet, as well as a few alternative healing options that are offered.
It's usually the superficial digital flexor tendon that gets damaged.

What horse are we talking about? I know that as an owner that are probably no words that make the blood run colder than tendon.

:)Ok. Just curious. I was wondering if this is a well known SA horse that has been the subject of some conjecture these past few days.

I'll tell you later if we're on the same page. Don't want to scare anyone by naming a guess when it's this serious.

I have had two horses who sustained this injury ,sorry to tell you guys but after a bucket full of money paid out they never returned to there same form .This is a bad injury dont let these trainers tell you anything else.If the horse is modest let it GO do not waste the money.Just my view but I am still to see a poor horse vet.

Happened to my filly Mayebabo, six months became 2 yrs off the track and 5 times the amount quoted to us in the beginning ... she is now back for two runs ... early days and we obviously take it slow but indications are that it was a waste of money. I wanted to send her to stud but the other partners over ruled me ..
I think the success rate is very slim but I'm far from an expert ...

Even the jockies when they know the horse has had a tendon do not like rideing the horse again cannot blame them .Any other owners had this problem most horses with this injury end up in PE after your trainer and vet has fleeced you sorry but this is the truth.
