Gatvol ,had a look at the closing stages again and reckon Karl just always knew he was going to get up?

He never really had to get really serious with Thanks John..

What you think?

First time I saw the race Hibs and I agree with you. Karl always knew he had the second horse.

It was not a punishing ride by any stretch of the imagination...........UNLESS........Karl knew that Bernard was not going to be trying too hard???

I don't believe much in such conspiracy theories. I think the best horse won!

If that was Anton on Franki De Wheels there is no way Neisius would have got up to win. It looks like Faydherbe was giving FDW a hand ride, unless I cant see the whip or he lost it.

An explanation why Faydherbe went so easy would be great...

Hib, it would be nice if we could see replays of a few of Frankie's previous races. I can't remember if he is habitually ridden with only hands and heels. The Count Dubois' can be moody sods so it's not impossible.

Hmmmm - Looks a bit "Fire King" / Brandon Lerena-ish to me

That would be good Magic, but unless you make your own replays you have no chance,in the uk you can go onto the Racing post pay your 20p and watch a replay when you want.

Sure the Jock on the 2nd has a peak under his arm about 100m out..lol

I think he did but there isn't necessarily anything untoward about that We'll have to wait for Frankie's future runs if we can't see past races.

Just watched again - Karls horse was finishing the best by far. Must admit extremely well timed.

My point is not whether Thanks John would have won or not,but whether Frankie De Wheels was given the best possible chance to win by the jockey. The money was down on the favourite, the stable tipped it as their best bet on their tipping line, but each week I read in the Sporting Post how those involved in racing(jockeys, trainers and the like)say they consider racing to be clean.I just think that if racing wants to get an image of being clean then the evidence should be clear cut that it is.

Fayd'herbe pushed the horse out with his hands,he's not stupid,if he doesn't he will get a very long holiday. My question is why no whip? It's not rocket science this, the stipes simply have to do their job, that's all I'm saying.

Objections are subjective and will always result in debate, but in a case where a jockey clearly does not use his whip and keeps looking over his shoulder when the well backed stable companion is his danger leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

I had no vested interest in this race.

Saksy,

If you look closely in Hibs youtube replay above you can see the whip in the jockey's right hand on FDW about 5 m from the line.I also clearly saw it in his hand when they showed the slow motion replay of the side on view just after the race was run.
