There is racing on the Turf Sat 19th Sept...the next Turf meeting I can find is 3rd Oct

How acceptable is this for people who are trying to get maidens up and going.

Its bullshit..where are all those extre midweek meetings they promiced in Jhb?

Don't think the tracks can take it in winter (didn't we used to have some other altenatives a few years ago - oh of course we had Newmarket and Gosforth). The 'extra' meetings are programmed for the 'summer' season from October to April; so us poor owners who have horses to run, but nowhere to run them, need to wait for October, when no doubt we will have large numbers being nominated, leading again to the debate on elimination 'rules'.

This is scary and poor planning.

I know the topic is about Turf racing, but has a good quality Pollytrack course never been touted?

Uniformal going,Racing twice/Three times a week,

Lingfield, wolverhamton, kempton,Dundalk,Great leighs are all well supported by the top UK owners and trainers.

Punters and owners/trainers used to steer a wide course from the all weather tacks in the uk,a bit like the serious punter steers clear from kimberley and to a lesser extent the Vaal.

But after a while trainers and owners came to the party to an extent that most racing on the all weather the races have maximum fields.

Punters used to worry about all weather surfaces but now that the majority of horses in training in the uk are galloped at home on pollytrack, the old worries of facing kickback and having their first run on the surface don`t seem to be brought into it much now(apart from the sand at southwell)...

I was always of the opinion that going the polytrack route is a better option (for the industry as a whole) than night racing - not sure about comparative costs though....any way if one looks at the 5yr plan as reported on another tread, it does not seem as if we will have a polytrack in the foreseable future.

I suggest racing the horsies in unsanctioned races. Have Betfair cover the races. Use the training tracks

Maybe...just maybe..

we need to look at Turfontein at a different angle...
the bigger picture...
which has got nothing to do with ownership of horses...
or when they will run these horses...

A.When it comes to Scott % William..
Racing is in the way..
they can make much more money every weekend using turfontein as a wedding venue..
infact..multiple functions can be run over a weekend at the same time..
there is no money in it catering for the public and or the RA on race days..
They are in fact only doing a service to the Racing community..
And to rant and rave..the next guy will have the same financial experience..
Where can you sit the entire day in a Restaurant at the same table for
