The question remains..and the solution lies within the answer..

we race every day of the week..did we in 1997...

how did we do it in 1997 with almost double the horses..

andrewest...how d andre...still appreciate all your comments ...

In my view i believe in 1997 you had more meetings, newmarket [day and night], vaal, turffontein. Appropriate races for appropriate horses. No merit rated races but divisions.

This is now what we call in the medical fee "the delayed symptom of a botched operation".

The programmer needs to stand up and tell us whats going on..no turf racing for over 2 weeks in Jhb or Free State (as remember the Vaal race course is not in Gauteng) at the most critical time for people who bought at the Summerhill R2R sales.

Patrick Davies should be explaining this to Mick Goss, the Dubai Royalty and all the other investors at that stud...including all their customers

Lets hear your explanation Patrick???

Guys the sum dont add up..

for a moment..
put aside the closures of the various tracks..
put aside the tracks that are not...
put aside the lights..
put aside the programmer..

lets look at one thing at a time..I cannot look at two at the same time..

we now must have almost half the 3 year old maidens we had in 1997..
or
in 1997 we had almost double the 3 year old maidens we have now..

How did we do it in 1997..
if we do it the way we did it in 1997..problem solved..must be..almost double

get a copy of the 1997 program..
fax it to the programmer with heading "THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT" & " IT DOES WORK" & "EVIDENCE AS PER 1997"

Perhaps it was just as bad (or worse) in 1997, but there were no racing forums like this to bitch on.....

why dont we get a copy of the 1997 program and look at the sums..
we know how many horses we had..
lets find out how many 3 year old maidens he had at 1 sep 1997..
lets see how many races we had for aug, sep, oct, nov of 1997....

we will find the answer to todays problem in history..

eistein said (not our einsteins) the answer to todays problem lies in tomorrow..

maybe we prove him wrong..and find the answer in yesterday...

Not sure that the figures / programs you need are readily available - I think they worked with paper records in those days - perhaps someone at the NHA (Jockey Club as it was then) can assist? Or Jack Dash?

we did prove him wrong..

let A=B=4
therefor AB = A squared.........................(4x4)=(4x4)
therefor AB-B squared = A squared - B squared...- B suared on both sides of =
therefor B(A - B ) = (A + B )(A - B )

therefor B(A - B ) = (A + B )(A - B )
divide by_________________________
................(A - B ).........(A - B )

leaves B = (A + B )
therefor 4 = 4+4
therefor 1 = 2

Would be interesting to get the FACTS?

I remember when I was a bookie we used to work on a Sat
During the week maybe a Tuesday and Thursday

Now we race 7 days a week.

We had either Gosforth Park or Turffontien on the Sat
Newmarket on Tues and the Vaal Thurday

If my old memory serves we well?

Not sure if we had more horse, but with reading all the emails and concerns, I am confused.
We have small field but huge nominations and we cant get our horses a run, can only put it down to the "mix" or we have the wrong races on offer for the majority?

Let the debate continue............

Dave please ask Patrick how many maiden plates for 3 yr old colts/geldings there are over 1200m (the standard dist for 1st timer 3 yr olds) in Jhb between today and November...I count 3 in all..maybe Im wrong but I bet you now the noms are gonna be well over 150 for each race...its becoming a joke.
