Restaurant's, the good the bad and the ugly?

Have been giving this some thought for a while, to have a post where we can talk about our favourite restaurant's and dining experiences.

I am aware its a sports site, however we all have to eat and going racing is part of a social experience.

I want to kick off with some of my restaurant experiences, and will keep it positive to start, but would also like you to share any bad experiences?

At this stage not in any particular order as you might be aware we "go out" "more times than the gas".

The Cabin Hold at Ushaka in Durban has to be one of the finest places I have been, the fact you are sitting in an old ship wreck, being circled by sharks adds to the ambience. The food and service is superb, I also had a deboned oxtail in a pie for the main course and it was superb.

The restaurant at the Cradle of Mankind is also a treat with a fixed set menu on a Sunday well worth a try, in addition if you are in the Macgalisberg area, try the Fat Olive or for a Sunday picnic with a difference, go to Toadberry Hall.

In Pretoria you cant beat the Ocean Basket in Woodlands for value and service, the Heat restaurant in the same complex is also a great place to eat.

You often here me talk about Radeymeyers in the game sanctuary on a Friday night for a superb T bone in the bush pub, well worth a visit.

In our area also Decadence is worth a visit.

As you are aware I also enjoy the Furious at the big T for a magic spread/buffet for the cost of a double JWB, in addition Kalvins for a great steak at next to nothing.

Have recently been dissapointed with the Dros, but the happy hour is worth a visit for drinks only, can hardly eat 6 margaritas in an hour, but drink no problem

This is just your starter for 10, as many more will come to find and I hope you will share you good, bad and ugly comments.

Dave

Its scottish thing all we think about is money, drink and food... surely it can only be a good place to eat if someone else pays?

A2A in sibaya casino is great with a variety of food choices. Centre court and havana in sun coast is a good place too. The spur in sun coast however is terrible.

Found another winner TRANNA, the best Indian restaurant I have been to in SA, great food and tastes, very reasonable prices, well worth a visit.

it's in the Hazeldean Square centre Lynwood Road near Silver Lakes.
