2 morning observations after the dust had settled on gold challenge day 
Well done Richard Fourie on breaking the record  , one of the gentleman of sa horseracing 
Sandrigham summit proved once again why GWE can't win the July , Hollywood lay the 5/2 till you run out of paper , this horse can't win 

and the winners from the Peters stable have dried up....wonder why?

The result of the Gold Challenge throws a bit of a spanner in the works imo (especially as the Cup Trial seemed to emphasize the chances of the 3yr-olds) - looking at it 'in the cold light of day' - GWE just beat SS in the Guineas (level weights), while Cousin Casey beat SS by 0,4 lengths yesterday (giving SS 1,5 kgs) so that I believe strengthens the argument that GWE is too high in the ratings. Big question is what the Handicapper will do after yesterday ? Will he perhaps drop See It Again by a point or two (would be mistake imo - on the other hand SIA is too high) - and what will he do wrt Oriental Charm ? 

More horses showed that they have very little chance in making the final July field (Mucho DInero, Lucky Lad) but 18 still has to run (with 2 reserves) - so the top 15 or so seems more or less set (for the rest it's a guess)  ....using the Official Ratings before yesterday (but would think that Oriental Charm will get an increase after yesterday's win - perhaps around 122 ?), this is my prediction (given that Dave the King will run - and what is happening with WInchester Mansion - I have not seen him entered anywhere ?)

Lucky Lad already a scratching I imagine he will be freshened up to have a tilt at the Mercury Sprint.
