R1) Gainsford, if he reproduces the debut effort to Ashford Castle, should be hard to beat.

R2) Arctic Sky, the softer going could assist this horse and she could run them down late in the piece. Two fair efforts in yielding underfoot conditions.

R9) Winter's Awakening, trotted in by 6 lengths when winning it's maiden in soft conditions. Wasn't disgraced first time out the maidens. Will probably track the apprentice and Chilly Winter who are drawn wide and will probably commit due to the draw and the allowance.

Race 1. I see the first timer Red Lark has been declared a runner and it would appear the jockey taking the ride now is Aldo Domeyer. First show was 14/1 with Hollywood and currently is 8/1 in the betting. Twice Over gelding so breeding suggest further. Owner Mrs Plattner. Looks like one to follow. Are we going to see a repeat of Race 2 at Fairview yesterday? Favourite (Gainsford) looks like the right one, but anything can happen.

Watched Clocking the Gallop, only Glen Kotzen on with Neil Andrews, and Kotzen seems to think that (R3), Ruby Rythm was given a poor ride last time out, and is a winner without a penalty (today, as it were). Apparently everyone who backed it last time gave poor Winaar an ear-full on the poor decision he made which resulted in him finishing third.

Kotzen seems to think that Winter's Awakening is their best runner on the day, and expects it to win despite the distance being on the short side, expects her class to pull her through.

They do expect a big run from Sockeroo, not without a winning chance.

Use it, don't use, better still, watch the program and hear for yourself.

Looks a real challenging card - and with the wet going, it's going to be a real challenge to come out in front by 17:30 this afternoon .... I'm looking to go short in the 7th and the 9th ....

In the 7th I think Elusive Trader has a lot going for him - 3rd run after the break; proven in the soft - good form against some top sprinters - biggest danger imo Photocopy - returning from KZN, but on previous form in the Cape must have a chance at the weights.

In the 9th, I do agree that Winter's Awakening is the one to beat - obvious danger at the weights is Chilly Winter, while Jolly Josephine could be a bit of a lurker - both of these need to come from slightly awkward draws

Tough card with the soft going and the fitness of the horses unknown.
Thanks Bayern ( I have a good bet on BMunich:cheer:) for the helpful comments from the Kotzen stable.
A further pointer will be betting moves. Race 1 money for 12, 14, 15 and16. I will see how they run and then make my play for the day.
Well done and thanks PeterD for your input yesterday. Your comments today will be appreciated and helpful.
