Old dogs, stop biting the new trick before it has begun. I am usually very critical but I also feel like maybe this will bring about some change in the utterly boring kzn meetings of late.

It will take some getting used to, yes, but the harder the challenge the better the payouts. I feel this method opens the door for some value picks to be found if the time is put in.

i would have restricted this change to Maiden Plates , graduation Plates, Novice plates and restricted races.

The Handicaps should be left as is. going to make life way more challenging for the punter.

they should have consulted on the change prior to making the change and also run a pilot meeting and then gathered feedback, checked turn over , win loss ratios etc before making this chnage.

Punters will punish them for this

I would restrict it to Barrier Trials

If anyone has a look at the MR races then the pattern of horses No.1 & No.2 finishing in the first three positions is obvious. I raise this because not everyone has the time to study form for every meeting and quite often in the exotic bets some punters add no's 1&2 out of habit along with their selections based on the MR system.

There may well be some method to the madness, although I do not see it, however what does really irk me is the way this has been done. There will for sure be better margins at the bookies on MR races when you have punters that don't understand the change...

Good points from everyone and this is a radical change that should perhaps have been consulted on first from the punting public. Since they are going ahead with it anyway can they not just help punters with an additional racehorse summary in the different form guides that list the runners in ratings order.
Could be a different section at the back or front if they do not want to add it race by race. Should not be to difficult to do this and will all but eliminate the problem.

Having now attempted to study the card. I take back what I said. This is a rubbish idea. All it does is make the race easier to follow on TV. Not much else. Complicates things for no reason at all. I don't see this "trial" lasting too long. The only winners here are the bookies.

Was actually quite pathetic listening to the commentator trying to land the message ad nauseam about the numbers matching the draw.

It was much more difficult to understand the P6 10% payout as explained by on course presenters vs the post...
